Indraneel Ganguli
Head—Marketing/Internal Communications, Asia

What were you doing before you joined Mahindra?
Before joining Mahindra, I spent 10 years in advertising, 4 years in telecom and 4 years in IT. I launched my professional career in advertising with a stint for Bates India from 1991-92, followed by five years with Lintas (now Lowe). Shortly thereafter, I took charge as Branch Director of the Delhi Operations at Percept India, handling brands like Siemens and Airtel. This exposed me to the telecommunications space at a time when the sector was just beginning to take off, and I fell in love. In 2000, I took the plunge and joined the Telecom Industry with the Bharti Group. IT then seemed a natural evolution from my interest in telecommunications, so I eventually migrated to Information Technology with Satyam and now Mahindra Satyam. I haven’t looked back since.
Why did you decide to join Mahindra?
I became part of the Mahindra family following the acquisition of Satyam by Tech Mahindra in April 2009, but I chose to stay because I feel I have a chance to achieve my goals here. Mahindra is a company that is comfortable empowering its employees, which is very important to me.
What are you working on currently?
I currently hold two specializations. I am the Head – Marketing for Asia and the Head – Internal Communications. Both of these specializations are challenging, but I think I most enjoy my work in internal communications - I have the opportunity to influence how all of Satyam's employees feel about their job and the chance to instill a real sense of belonging.
How do you find Mahindra as an employer?
In my view, Mahindra is one of the best employers globally. People here really believe in the group's core philosophy, and there is a great sense of communal pride now that we are a part of Mahindra. It feels like a family.
