In the past year, the Mahindra Group established a footprint in several new businesses, taking it closer to its goal of becoming a full range player, covering almost every aspect of the transport eco-system. First up was the launch of the new After-Market business vertical which will consolidate the entire gamut of M&M’s after-market initiatives in the automotive space. The sector consists of Mahindra First Choice Services Ltd., a multi-brand car service chain, Mahindra First Choice Ltd. for purchase and sale of pre-owned vehicles and Mahindra Spares (Mahindra and non-Mahindra).

Next, Mahindra entered the two-wheeler sector with the acquisition of the business assets of Pune-based Kinetic Motor Company Ltd. (KMCL). The deal will enable Mahindra to design and market a range of scooters, value engineered motorcycles and high-end motorcycles for the Indian and global markets, helping it establish a robust, end-to-end two-wheeler business in every segment of the industry.

After conquering the tarmac, Mahindra set its sights on the high seas with the launch of Mahindra Odyssea which will establish a presence in the high-potential fibreglass power-boat and catamaran manufacturing industry. This marks the first ever foray of a major Indian industrial group into the leisure boating industry. Mahindra Odyssea also unveiled its 22 foot and 33 foot fibreglass power boats at the Mumbai International Boat Show (MIBS), one of the city’s premier maritime events.
