February 21, 2012, New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector today announced the winners of the India Agri Awards 2012 which was held in partnership with Zee News. This honour was bestowed upon the farmers to recognize their noteworthy and purposeful contribution to the field of agriculture, the backbone of the Indian economy. Agriculture Minister, Shri Sharad Pawar was the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
The awards were judged by an eminent jury of agri experts chaired by Mr. P.K. Basu, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperation.
The Krishi Shiromani Samman (Life Time Achievement Award) 2012 was conferred upon Dr. Gurdev Khush for his immense contribution to Indian Agriculture and enabling rural India to RISE.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group said, “I would like to congratulate all the winners of the Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pawan Goenka, President Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors said, “The Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri award is our endeavour to recognize and felicitate the unsung heroes of India’s agriculture sector for their noteworthy and purposeful contribution. As India’s leading tractor manufacturer for over 28 years, we have always encouraged innovation and innovative practices with a focus to enhance rural prosperity. We are certain that these awards will encourage modernization and change as we felicitate these worthy winners”.
This initiative is an extension of the company’s Mahindra Samriddhi initiative which aims to enhance agricultural productivity through creative farming technologies, thereby leading to an increase in rural prosperity. As part of this concept, several Mahindra dealerships have been transformed into Samriddhi Centres offering the farmer easy access to technological know-how, hybrid seeds, soil and water testing facilities, demo farms, finance and insurance, internet updates and sales and servicing of tractors and implements.
