K.C. Mahindra Education Trust announces recipients of FY13 Scholarships for Post Grad studies abroad
The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust has announced the results of the FY13 K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post Graduate Studies Abroad. Three K.C. Mahindra Fellows will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 8 lakh each, while another 53 candidates will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 2 lakh each.

July 12, 2012, Mumbai: The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust has announced the results of the FY13 K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post Graduate Studies Abroad. Three K.C. Mahindra Fellows will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 8 lakh each, while another 53 candidates will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 2 lakh each.
“The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust selects scholarship recipients based on their financial need and academic achievements. This year, we received over 700 applications from students who have obtained admission in several Ivy League universities both in the US and the UK. The three K.C. Mahindra Fellows - Vivekdeep Gupta, Sumit Shinde and Unnati Gupta – hail from very diverse backgrounds and displayed remarkable grit and determination to rise above their challenging situations and secure admission in prestigious universities such as Stanford, Oxford and Harvard, clearly epitomizing the Mahindra philosophy of Rise” said Anand Mahindra, Trustee of K C Mahindra Education Trust and Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group.
The applicants will be pursuing their post graduation in a number of subjects ranging from Computer Science, Engineering, MBA, Architecture, Law, Economics and Public Policy in various universities including Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA and the University of Cambridge, Oxford University and the London School of Economics in the UK.
An eminent selection panel comprising of Mr. Keshub Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mr. Anand Mahindra, Mr. Bharat Doshi, Executive Director and Group CFO, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mr. Ulhas Yargop, President, IT Sector, Group CTO, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Dr. Indu Shahani, Principal, H R College and Sheriff of Mumbai and Dr. Nachiket Mor, Chairman, Sughavazhvu Healthcare, spent two full days interviewing 82 students in Mumbai. Given that the shortlisted candidates were high performers, the panel had a difficult time selecting the final awardees.
The K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad was the first scholarship to be set up at the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust in 1956 by the founder of the Trust, Mr. K.C. Mahindra, who, along with his brother, Mr. J.C. Mahindra, also established the Mahindra Group in 1945. Since inception, the Trust has provided almost 1100 scholarships to Indian students pursuing their post-graduate studies abroad. The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust awards over 50 scholarships every year, with the top 3 K.C. Mahindra Fellows receiving an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 8 lakh each. The other awardees receive an interest free loan scholarship of a maximum of Rs. 2 lakh each. Students are selected based on their financial need and their academic achievements.
