The group's finger has always been on the pulse of the market.

1949

M&M built the first Willys Overland Jeep in India at its Assembly Plant in Mazagon, Bombay on the 3rd of June 1949.

1965

First batch of B275 tractors rolled out.

Manufacture of Light Commercial Vehicles commenced.

1982

The "Mahindra" brand of tractors was born.
Mahindra Tractors have won the hearts of a million customers and steadily made waves in international markets.

1985

The new Mahindra Utility Vehicle MM540 was launched.

1986

Two new models of Mahindra Tractors, M270 (<25HP) and M495 (47 HP), were introduced.

The Mahindra brand of tractors have won the hearts of a million customers.

1988

Tractor model M595 in 50HP range was introduced.

1991

The Commander was an outright winner. To quote Auto Sector President Alan Durante, then Executive VP, Marketing, "The Commander is an illustration of inspired innovation, manufacturing resilience and fine tuning of market assessment".

1993

The Armada, a vehicle incorporating a host of new and improved features launched.

1996

Mahindra Classic launched.

1997

Mahindra Voyager, India's first world-class multi-purpose van was launched, complete with numerous special features.

1999

Bijlee - a battery-operated, environment friendly, 3-wheeler launched.

The premium Sarpanch tractor brand was launched - promising more power, better style and enhanced fuel saving.

2000

The New Age Tractor, Mahindra Arjun 605 DI (60 HP tractor) represented a quantum leap in technology for the tractor industry.

Automotive Sector (AS) launched Bolero - a utility vehicle - as a response to the needs of the urban
customer.

The value-for-money Bhoomiputra range of tractors was launched and billed as "The smart farmer's choice".

2001

Mahindra MaXX - a Multi Utility Vehicle with the brand promise of Maximum Space Maximum comfort was launched.

3-wheeler diesel vehicle Champion launched. It went on to become India's highest selling large three-wheeler within four years.

Mahindra Tourister 15-seater was launched.

2002

The Scorpio - the new generation sports utility vehicle that redefined the Sports Utility Vehicle segment launched.

The Mahindra Loadking launched.

The 20 series World Tractor The Mahindra Scorpio

2004

Two new 25HP tractors - the 235DI and the 245DI were launched, boasting of a spectrum of the latest international features.

Mahindra USA launched the 20 series line of World Tractors, M&M's most rugged and heavy-duty line of vehicles to date.

2005

Champion Alfa launched, marking the entry of M&M into the 0.5 ton three-wheeler cargo vehicle segment.
