MAPPING GLOBAL STRATEGIES  

Our numero uno status in many sectors in the domestic market has whetted our appetite for more. We are looking at becoming a leader in the global arena. And every step we now take brings us closer to our vision. Here's a step-by-step guide to the group's global moves.

1969

Vehicle export commenced.

1984

M&M strengthens its presence in the US market with the inauguration of its second tractor assembly plant in Calhoun, Georgia. The Mahindra Scorpio is displayed at the Paris Motor Show.

Mahindra Hellenic Auto Industries S.A. formed - a JV in Greece - to assemble and market utility vehicles in Europe.

Bagged order valued at around Rs. 42 crores for supplying 10,000 jeeps and spares to Iran.

1993

MBT International Inc., USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of MBT, incorporated.

1994

Mahindra USA incorporated at Tomball, Texas, for the distribution of tractors in USA.

2003

Mahindra USA (MUSA) opened a second tractor assembly plant and distribution center in Calhoun, Georgia, in response to the rising US demand for its tractors.

Club Mahindra established its first international resort at Bangkok.

M&M unveiled its top SUV models at the Bologna Motor Show, marking its foray into Italy. The five models showcased are - the Bolero GLX, the Bolero Double Cab, the Bolero Single Cab, the MM 540 and the Mahindra Goa (launched in India as the Scorpio).

2004

The Scorpio is unveiled in South Africa in July 2004. FES President Mr. Anjanikumar Choudhari at the inauguration of the Mahindra (China) Tractor Co. Plant in Nanchang, China.

Mahindra Bolero entered the Latin American market, with the Uruguay Plant to serve as a launch pad for entry to Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Peru.

Scorpio driven into Qatar through Doha Motors & Trading Group of Companies.

Mahindra launched Scorpio and Bolero in South Africa.

M&M signed an MoU to enter into a JV agreement with Jiangling Motor Co. Group (JMCG) of China.

2005

M&M and French auto major Renault decided to join forces to produce and commercialise Renault's Logan, in the Indian market in 2007. A framework agreement was concluded for setting up a joint venture called Mahindra Renault Ltd. with Mahindra retaining a 51 per cent share and Renault 49 per cent.

Mahindra Tractors entered the East European market through launch of 39-50 HP tractors in Serbia.

M&M and International Truck and Engine Corporation formed JV to make trucks and buses in India, with 51 percent ownership by Mahindra and 49 percent ownership by International.
