Mr. Keshub Mahindra – Chairman                                              Top

Mr. Keshub Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, is a B.Sc. graduate from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, USA. After joining the Company in 1947, he became the Chairman in 1963. For over five decades, his continuous involvement has enabled the Mahindra Group to reach where it is today.

He is a well-known philanthropist who redefined corporate governance by effectively channelising funds into the social sector. He has contributed immensely to the cause of building ethical corporations in India and is currently part of numerous prestigious organisations and committees. He was also appointed by the Government of India to serve on a number of Committees including the Sachar Commission on Company Law & MRTP, Central Advisory Council of Industries etc. Today, he is an icon, an inspiring business leader and a distinguished corporate citizen that everyone looks up to.

Mr. Anand G. Mahindra Vice - Chairman & Managing Director

Mr. Anand G. Mahindra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra Group, graduated from Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Magna cum Laude (High Honours). In 1981 he secured an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts. He returned to India that year and joined Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Limited (MUSCO), the country's foremost producer of speciality steels, as Executive Assistant to the Finance Director. In 1989 he was appointed President and Deputy Managing Director of the company.

During his stint at MUSCO, he initiated the Mahindra Group's diversification into the new business areas of real estate development and hospitality management.

In the summer of 1991, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the country's dominant producer of off-road vehicles and agricultural tractors.

He has since been engaged in a comprehensive change programme in Mahindra & Mahindra Limited to make the company an efficient and aggressive competitor in the new liberalised economic environment in India.

In April 1997, he was appointed Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and in January 2003 given the additional responsibility of Vice Chairman.

Mr. Mahindra was a co-promoter of Kotak Mahindra Finance Limited, which in 2003 was converted into a bank. Kotak Mahindra Bank is one of the foremost private sector banks today.

Mr. Mahindra frequently shares his views and ideas on Indian economy and business through his writings in some of India's leading business magazines.

Mr. Mahindra is the co-founder of the Harvard Business School Association of India, an association dedicated to the promotion of professional management in India. The association has grown substantially over the years.
He is Past President 2003-04 of the Confederation of Indian Industry and has also been President of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
Mr. Mahindra is a Director of The National Stock Exchange of India Limited appointed under the "Public Representatives" category.
He takes a keen interest in matters related to education and apart from being a Trustee of the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, which provides scholarships to students, he is also on the Board of Governors of the Mahindra United World College of India.
Mr. Mahindra is the Founder Chairman of the Mumbai Festival, which was launched in January 2005. The event was the first comprehensive festival to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the city.

Deepak Parekh joined the Board of Mahindra & Mahindra in 1990. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales). Since 1993, Mr. Parekh has been Chairman of HDFC Limited, the premier housing finance institution in India with financial intermediaries in various fields such as banking, consumer finance, credit ratings and real estate. Mr. Parekh has been a member of various committees set up by the Government of India.

Nadir Godrej joined the Board of Mahindra & Mahindra in August 1992. He holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University and has obtained an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He has been a Director of several Godrej companies since 1977. M. M. Murugappan has been a Director of the Company since August 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Madras and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Narayanan Vaghul - Director

Narayanan Vaghul has been a Director of the Company since 1996. He is currently Chairman of the Board of ICICI Bank Limited. Mr. Vaghul joined ICICI in 1985. He was instrumental in starting an investment bank, a commercial bank, a venture capital company and an asset management company, as part of the ICICI Group and was also responsible for the promotion of India's first credit rating company, CRISIL. Mr. Vaghul has over 45 years experience in the banking industry. He has been Chairman of several committees and task forces constituted by the Government and Reserve Bank of India. Mr. Vaghul is a graduate from Madras University.

 
 
Dr. A.S. Ganguly - Director

Dr. A.S. Ganguly was appointed to the Board of Mahindra & Mahindra in August 1997. Dr. Ganguly is a graduate from Bombay University and has obtained M.S. and Ph.D degrees from the University of Illinois, USA. Starting as a research scientist with Unilever, he went on to become Chairman of Hindustan Lever Limited from 1980 to 1990 and a member of Unilever's main Board from 1990 to 1997, responsible for world-wide research and technology. Dr. Ganguly has been a member of several government committees, including the Science Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister of India.

 
 
R.K. Kulkarni - Director

R.K. Kulkarni has been a Director of the Company since August 1977. He holds a Masters in Law from the University of Bombay. He is an Advocate and a Solicitor, and is currently a Senior Partner of Khaitan & Company, one of India's leading law firms. He has been in practice for over thirty years and has vast experience in the legal field, with particular emphasis on corporate law and legislation related to securities. Mr. Kulkarni has participated in national and international conferences and seminars at which he has read papers on foreign direct investments in India, infrastructure/privatisation and reforms.

 
 
Anupam Puri - Director

Anupam Puri joined the Board of the Company in January 2001. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Delhi University and M.A. & M.Phil. Degrees in Economics from Oxford University. He has had a career spanning over thirty years with McKinsey & Company, a leading management consulting firm. He has also been associated with several states and local governments in India and abroad on the issue of promoting economic development. He has participated in the re-organisation of several multilateral agencies, including the OPEC secretariat, Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and others.

 
 
Thomas Mathew T. - Nominee of LIC

Thomas Mathew T., Managing Director, Life Insurance Corporation(LIC) of India, is a Post-Graduate in Economics, Graduate in Law, Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (Marketing) and also an Associate of the Insurance Institute of India. He joined LIC in December, 1977 as a Direct Recruit Officer. He took over charge as Managing Director of LIC on 24thMarch, 2006. Mr. Thomas Mathew has held various important assignments in LIC. He was the Zonal Manager of the Western Zone of LIC, Chief (Marketing and International Operations) and Sr. Divisional Manager-in-Charge of 3 major divisions. He is also Managing Director of LIC Housing Finance Limited and a Director of LIC (Nepal) Limited. Mr. Mathew has attended various seminars and training sessions related to Insurance in India and abroad.

 
 
Bharat N. Doshi - Executive Director & Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO)

Bharat Doshi joined the Company in 1973 as an Executive. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and has a Master's Degree in Law from the University of Bombay. He has participated in the Program for Management Development (PMD) at Harvard Business School. He was also a Fellow of the Salzburg Seminar on 'Asian Economies: Regional and Global Relationships' held in December 2000.

Mr. Doshi was Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs) from July 1991 to August 1992. In August 1992, he joined the Board of the Company as Executive Director in charge of Finance & Accounts, Corporate Affairs and Information Technology. In addition, he was the President of the Trade & Financial Services Sector from December 1994 to October 2007.

Mr. Doshi has been designated Executive Director and Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO) w.e.f. 12th October 2007

Mr. Doshi is Vice Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited and Chairman of Mahindra Intertrade Limited and Mahindra Steel Service Centre Limited. Arun K. Nanda - Executive Director & President, Infrastructure Development Sector

Arun K. Nanda is Executive Director & President, Infrastructure Development Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. The Mahindra Group with a turnover of US $ 4 billion, is among India's largest industrial groups in the private sector. Mr. Nanda has been with the Mahindra Group for more than 30 years and has been instrumental in the Group's growth. He joined the Mahindra group as a management accountant at Machinery Manufacturers Corporation Limited in 1973. In 1992, he joined the Board of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited as Executive Director. He was appointed President of Infrastructure Development Sector of the Group in 1994.

Mr. Nanda has been guiding the Group's forays in the Infrastructure sector. This includes areas such as property development, construction, leisure and lifetime holidays, infrastructure privatization projects and engineering consultancy.

Mr. Nanda is a Graduate in Commerce, a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (FCA) and a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (FCS). He has a Degree in Law from the University of Calcutta. He has also participated in Senior Executive Programme at the London Business School.

He is the President of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India, a member of the governing board of the Indo-American Society, and a Member of the Governing Board of Bombay First. He is the Chairman of "CII National Committee on Water" for 2006-07.

Mr. Nanda serves on the Boards of several companies in various capacities. He is the Chairman of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts (India) Limited, Owens Corning (India) Limited, PSL Erickson Limited, Mahindra Construction Company Limited, Mahindra Acres Consulting Engineers Limited, Mahindra Infrastructure Developers Limited and the Vice-Chairman of Mahindra Lifespaces Developers Limited and Mahindra World City (Developers) Limited.
