Mahindra Water Utilities

Mahindra Water Utilities is a joint venture between Mahindra Infrastructure Developers and United Utilities International. In 2002, we stepped forward to become the first utility Company in India to enter into a public-private partnership to provide water utility solutions to Tirupur, India’s leading cotton knitwear export region.
We are 100 engineers and professionals managing 150 outsourced personnel to operate and maintain services for one of India’s largest Water Distribution Schemes, the Tirupur Water Supply and Sewerage (TWSS) project. As this is India’s first venture into commercializing the supply of water both for domestic and industrial use, we are highly cognizant, and very proud, of the importance of our performance.
We have a capacity of 185 million liters of high quality potable water per day, extracting raw water from the River Cauvery, then treating, storing, and distributing it around the clock. We also manage domestic waste water collection and treatment. Each day, we collect and treat up to 15 million liters of domestic sewage.
We are also the first water utilities company in the country to secure ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification, documenting our commitment and compliance with international standards of quality management, environmental management, and operational health and safety.
This public-private partnership is the first of its kind in Indian infrastructure development.
