RACING FORMS THE BREEDING GROUND FOR TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND BRINGS ALONG THE BEST TO COMPETE. THE MOTO3TM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IS ONE OF THE MOST PASSIONATELY CONTESTED CLASSES OF RACING IN THE WORLD. WE FORAYED INTO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TO DEVELOP OUR TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE TWO WHEEL DIVISION AND TO SHAKE UP THE ESTABLISHED ORDER.
We first participated in the MotoGPTM World Championship in 2011 and remain the only Indian constructor in the series till date. Widely followed internationally, the 2015 season finale drew in close to 20 million viewers from around the world on over 80 TV networks, and 500 accredited media representatives covered the event to distribute the news to various newspapers, radio shows and magazines.
We have continuously strived to achieve a win in the World Championship and have continued to grow in our Grand Prix racing journey, becoming a completely independent manufacturer. This is exemplified by the opening of our own research and development centre in Italy, which contributes significantly in making every year better than the last for us in motorcycle racing.
As a part of our commitment to the World Championship we supply our racing machine, the Mahindra MGP3O to the factory Aspar Mahindra Team and three customer teams. We also supply an official Peugeot Motocycles derivative of our MGP3O to Peugeot’s factory team – Peugeot MC Saxoprint. We are supplying MGP3O machines to Team Aspar to compete in the World Championship feeder series, the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 Junior World Championship in 2016.
Wins have always been our goal at the World Championship level, and we have continuously strived to beat the best with our ardent hard work, dedication and passion. We have come out victorious on several instances and are now focusing our attention on taking a riders and constructors championship in the immediate future.
Since our beginning in 2011, we achieved immediate success with a pole position in just our 17th race on the world stage, defying all odds and registering a ground breaking achievement for a company and country with almost no motorsport background. In 2013, at the Malaysian Grand Prix we achieved Mahindra and India’s first World Championship top-three podium finish. A change of format to the 250cc single cylinder four stroke Moto3TM class in 2012 helped us in establishing ourselves against the racing giants. We continued our success story with three further podium finishes in 2014, including a second place finish at the German Grand Prix.
The 2016 season continued to be a breakthrough for us. Aspar Mahindra Team Moto3 rider Francesco (Pecco) Bagnaia got off to a strong start by securing three third place podium finishes at the QatarGP, SpanishGP and the ItalianGP. Further adding a jewel in the crown, Pecco claimed a victory at Assen leading to a historic achievement not just for himself and Mahindra but for India as well.
Our racing beast, the MGP3O claimed a first and second place podium finish at the Czech Republic Grand Prix. Peugeot MC Saxoprint rider John McPhee of Scotland mastered a soaking wet Brno circuit to take the second victory for the MGP3O, while Spanish teenager Jorge Martin (Aspar Mahindra Team) took a career-best second place. Subsequently, at the British Grand Prix, Pecco’s brilliant second place finish secured the sixth podium for the Mahindra factory team.
With a total of two race wins, twelve podium finishes and three pole positions, we have established ourselves as a real force on the international level. Our continuous growth is backed by the tireless work of our technical partners and the team in Italy as well as the experience of partners such as the Aspar Team. Each achievement of ours further builds on the goodwill and helps us associate ourselves with a lot more prestigious partners and riders.
