The Mahindra Group's relationship with the Defence Sector dates back to the time it began assembling Jeeps in India. This relationship has grown stronger over time. Mahindra Defence Systems, a special division, has been set up in New Delhi to oversee the requirements of the Defence Sector. Mahindra Defence Systems provides total solutions for the entire range of light combat / armoured vehicles and their derivatives for defence / security forces. It also addresses specific segments of the Government's import substitution/indigenisation programmes like Small Arms and Sea Mines. It has incorporated state-of-the-art technology into its products at a reasonable cost and has emerged as the largest private sector company for the supply of bullet-proof vehicles.

The main objective of Mahindra Defence Systems is to

Mahindra Defence Systems has been awarded the following industrial licenses by the Government of India:

. Mobile Surveillance Platforms
. Sea Mines
. Small Arms, Variants and Associated Ammunition
. Up-Armoured Vehicles

A major area of expertise of Mahindra Defence Systems is providing world-class armouring solutions for Light Combat Vehicles, Multi-Utility Vehicles and Sports Utility Vehicles.

These Up-Armoured Vehicles are already in service with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and the Paramilitary and State Police Forces in India. Many of these have been exported to other nations under the auspices of the Ministry of Home and External Affairs. Special projects on the anvil include state-of-the-art training simulators for the land forces, mobile surveillance platforms for the Army and BSF and weapons and ammunitions for the Army and Navy respectively. Mahindra Defence Services has established numerous alliances with foreign partners for their various products - current as well as those under development. These alliances will help strengthen the technological base and provide customised and state-of-the-art products to the satisfaction of the customer.
