Mahindra & Mahindra Limited | Integrated Annual Report 2025-26

76 Integrated Annual Report 2025-26 Case study: Waste Management: Sealant Recovery Maximisation in Manufacturing at Auto Division. This initiative addressed sealant wastage in packaging and module assembly lines through targeted process optimisation. The project focused on reducing material losses during idle and purge cycles by modifying machine parameters rather than introducing new equipment. Key changes included increasing purging interval delays, reducing purging cycle times, and recalibrating sensor heights to ensure sealant is dispensed only when required. Results: • These interventions resulted in ~85% reduction in sealant waste per unit, while maintaining throughput and product quality. The initiative was implemented across both module and powerpack areas, with consistent results across production lines. • Substantial waste reduction and recurring cost savings estimated at ~₹2 crore annually, alongside improved manufacturing discipline. Biodiversity At Mahindra, we believe that protecting biodiversity is not just an ethical responsibility but also a vital pillar of our sustainability strategy. Although our operations are not adjacent to protected or key biodiversity areas, we are committed to doing our part to conserve and enrich the environment. Our approach is guided by the principle of 'no harm', ensuring that our activities align with ecological preservation and contribute positively to the world’s natural wealth. Mahindra’s Biodiversity Policy In FY25, the Mahindra Group introduced its first Group Biodiversity Policy, applicable across all our companies. This policy is endorsed by the Group CEO & MD, and is publicly available. It underscores our commitment to operate responsibly, with a strategy focused on ‘rejuvenating nature’. The policy commits Mahindra Group to operate in ‘harmony with nature’ and follow a policy of ‘no harm’, laying down the following principles for the Group: • We will be mindful of the impact on biodiversity from our operations. • Follow no net loss, and encourage our supply chain to do the same. • Adhere to relevant practices with a clear governance structure with leadership oversight. • Play a role in global advocacy efforts. • Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements (SEBI BRSR, etc.). Case Study: Mahindra Group’s work on biodiversity and nature-positive practices was featured in a case study published by Business for Nature (BfN). Mahindra Group has actively collaborated with Business for Nature through policy advocacy, amplifying key campaigns and as a signatory to three of BfN’s flagship initiatives — Nature is Everyone’s Business, Make It Mandatory and It’s Now for Nature. The Group-wide Biodiversity Policy is a landmark step towards our broader vision of becoming a planet-positive organisation. The case study showcases Mahindra’s leadership in integrating nature-positive practices into operations and long-term strategy. Group initiatives such as water positivity, ecosystem rejuvenation and sustainable farming practices have been featured, while demonstrating measurable impacts that contribute to India’s sustainability goals. The case study also reflects Mahindra’s alignment with Business for Nature’s ACT-D framework for biodiversity action. This case study positions us among the select businesses globally to have our nature conservation and climate efforts recognised by BfN, reinforcing our leadership in this space.
