Mahindra Adventures first ever Club Challenge 2015 concludes successfully

July 20, 2015, Mumbai: Mahindra  Mahindra Ltd. (MM Ltd.), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, successfully concluded the first edition of the Mahindra Adventure Club Challenge. A unique concept to promote the tough and rugged DNA of Mahindra vehicles, Club Challenge is a platform for all off-roading clubs in India to compete with each other.

10 participating clubs from across India including, B.O.D.A (Bengaluru), Tamil Nadu Off-Roaders (Coimbatore), Adventure Achievers (Nagpur), Charminar Off-Road Adventure Club (Hyderabad), Incredible Off-Roaders (Goa), Pune Pathfinders (Pune), DOT 4x4 (Goa), Northern India Off-Road Club (New Delhi), V5 Off-Roaders (Coorg), KTM Jeepers (Kottayam) along with one media team (EVO, Auto Car, Top Gear,, Carwale  Cardekho), competed against each other for the coveted title of best Off-Roading Club in India.

Held for the first time in India, against the monsoon drenched landscape of Goa, the clubs had to tackle obstacles which tested not just their skills but also required immense teamwork and ingenuity. Each club entered three vehicles under three categories - Pro Stock, Modified and Pro- Modified. Some obstacles required more than one vehicle to be used which varied, depending on the challenge at hand (driving obstacles and team obstacles).

Interesting obstacles like The Mucky Relay, No Man’s Trench, Make Your Own Path, Rock The Flags, Tricky Trail(er)  Demolition Derby kept the competitors challenged. These obstacles saw participants negotiate slushy trenches, steep ascents and constantly shifting rock beds. They also had to build bridges with logs and drive over them with absolute precision and climb over a series of vehicles without getting stuck or toppling over.

After the six gruelling obstacles, team BODA- an Off-Road club based out of Bengaluru - emerged overall winners. They received prize money amounting to Rs. 3 lakh and were closely followed by Tamil Nadu Off- Roaders from Coimbatore who won Rs. 2 Lakh. The third spot and prize money of Rs 1 Lakh was claimed by the V5 Off-Roaders from Coorg.

The competition was judged by an eminent panel of judges from within Mahindra Adventure. The grading system was derived on the basis of approach technique, drive through, vehicle preservation and usage of external help. The grading system followed the lines of the celebrated off-roading trophy and encouraged responsible off-roading for both the environment and the vehicles, ensuring safety as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra  Mahindra Ltd. said, Mahindra is proud of its DNA of making tough and rugged 4X4 vehicles
and the Thar CRDe is now the vehicle of choice for off-roading enthusiasts across the country. After the success of the now well-established Mahindra Great Escapes and the Mahindra Off-Roading
Trophy for enthusiasts, we wanted to push the envelope by creating a competition for off-roading clubs from across the country. With this first edition of the Mahindra Adventure Club Challenge,
we not only provided a platform for off-road clubs to compete with each other but also promoted camaraderie within the off-roading fraternity across India. This challenge yet again tested and validated
the tough and rugged go anywhere capability of our Thar CRDe 4x4 through the various off-roading obstacles that were put up.

The Club Challenge was organised in association with IMSC (Indian Motor Sports Club), with sponsor support from Sara Xtreme 4x4 and medical partners – Manipal Hospitals which ensured that participants could enjoy the challenges in a safe and unhindered environment
