Best Ever Team Result for Mahindra Racing in Long Beach

[02nd April 2016. Long Beach, California] Mahindra Racing Formula E Team leaves Long Beach with 22 Championship Points, the largest combined points haul in the Team's history. Starting in P4 & P10 respectively, Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna showed strong energy management and race pace to finish in fourth and fifth position respectively.

The result sees the Mahindra Racing Team significantly closing the gap with the team ahead. With five races remaining, Mahindra Racing has already surpassed its total points tally from the inaugural season.

23 Nick Heidfeld said: "I am happy that we scored the best finish in the Team's history today. Most importantly, I think we are progressing well. A lot of work has been done to achieve this performance and we will continue to push as a team for better results. This is a very positive result for us"

"I want to thank the fans for their support in voting for me to win FanBoost. After the safety car came in I used the FanBoost to fight for third position but it wasn’t quite enough to complete the move. I'm grateful to everyone who voted."

21 Bruno Senna said: "The theme of the day is progress. We have gained momentum since Buenos Aires and the results speak for themselves. My first car was really impressive today. We were very efficient and this allowed us to stick to our strategy and control our race."

"We tried some new solutions in the first practice session which didn't work so well and we improved the car significantly for the second session. The M2Electro is a consistent, efficient package. We had energy in hand to battle with those around us and we nailed the pit stop once again."

Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal of Mahindra Racing Formula E Team, said: "Today I can say we achieved exactly what we planned to do. We have pushed to develop the car and regain the ground we lost in some recent races.

This result shows that we have built up that momentum again. To achieve our best ever finish in the process is the icing on the cake. I'm looking forward to the European races to continue this pace of improvement and progress further toward the front of the pack."

About Mahindra Racing

Mahindra Racing is one of only ten teams - and the only Indian team - to compete in the FIA Formula E Championship. It was also the first Indian team to participate in the FIM MotoGPTM World Motorcycle Racing Championship series in 2011 and the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (CIV) in 2012.

Mahindra Racing entered the second Formula E season as one of eight manufacturers developing its own electric powertrain to power its quartet of racing cars. With this second generation Mahindra Racing car, the M2Electro, the team hopes to build on the success of the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship. Working together with Mahindra Reva - an electric car company whose sole aim is to develop and produce an affordable compact electric car - and service provider Campos Racing, the Mahindra Racing Formula E Team is in good hands.

The M2Electro has impressed from the beginning of the season, with Nick Heidfeld scoring a maiden podium in the opening round in Beijing. The car has also impressed with its efficiency and reliability, which has contributed to three double points finishes in the opening five rounds alone.

Mahindra is known for competing in Moto3TM as both a team and manufacturer. From 2015, India's first and only MotoGPTM manufacturer will concentrate on strengthening the development programme of its successful Mahindra MGP3O Moto3TM motorcycle and will no longer run its own team.. The decision to concentrate on machine development as a full-scale constructor only strengthens Mahindra's commitment to top-level two-wheeled racing. Mahindra's bold decision to take on the world's best at the highest level of motorcycle racing has won the team a number of prestigious awards in India.
