How does one describe a road expedition with friends or family, ending with a fun-filled weekend in Goa? Pure joy!
And that's the essence of Mahindra Open Drive, the Group’s annual two-day destination festival which is a celebration of the humanitarian spirit of the new generation, called the Rising Tribe. This year’s Open Drive started on the 7th of November, 2019 at Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune and all roads led to Bandodkar Grounds, Panjim, Goa.
The 08th & 09th of November saw the festival engaging audiences through music, the arts and a generous dash of Goan culture.
Essence of Goa
Participants were regaled with choices of international music and installation artists along with a gourmet feast where local and international cuisines jostled for supremacy. The festival featured a mix of international and local artists including headliners 'Chico and The Gypsies' along with folk music sensations Raghu Dixit, Harouna Samake, Brooklyn Funk Essentials and Nikhil D Souza. This eclectic mix of artists amplified the festival’s soul and complemented Goa’s rich culture and ethnicity.
'Do a little, give a little and smile a lot'
That's the essence of Open Drive. While the events at the festival and the drive preceding take care of the smiles, there were several fundraising initiatives that enabled guests to contribute to society. Called India’s first ‘do-gooder’ festival, the event enables participants to pledge monetary aid to a cause they believe in and thus make a difference while having fun! This year, Open Drive tied up with 20 partner NGOs supporting a wide span of causes, including education, healthcare, safety, livelihood, environment and rights and inclusion.
According to Jay Shah, Vice President, Cultural Outreach, Mahindra Group, "The Mahindra Open Drive has been conceived for the city goer who needs a break from the humdrum; for a weekend filled with adventure, music and positive vibes. While the "drive" refers to the suggested way to come to the festival, it also refers to the positive emotion of being motivated to do good, to be driven."
While we wait for next year’s Open Drive, take a look at the highlights of the fest!
