#UnlearnToRise - Aman Tamboli

This World Inclusion Day, we bring you #UnlearnToRise, a series continuing our conversations around unconscious bias. Through real stories from across Mahindra, we explore the assumptions we make about people and the beliefs we need to unlearn.

“I come from a humble background. With my father not working and my mother taking up jobs to support our family, I grew up knowing that I had a responsibility to build a better future for us.

When I joined as a Graduate Apprentice Trainee in the Hydraulics Department at the Nagpur Plant in March 2025, I found more than an opportunity to learn. I found people who believed in my potential, guided me and helped me grow. Their mentorship taught me discipline, professionalism and, most importantly, to believe in myself.

The proudest moment came when I was confirmed as an employee after completing my GAT tenure. When I shared the news with my mother, she had tears in her eyes. After years of hard work and sacrifice, this was a moment we had both hoped for.

Today, my job is helping bring greater financial stability to my family and giving us hope for the future. I am grateful to the people who helped me get here and showed me what the right guidance and encouragement can make possible.

I have learnt that where you begin does not have to determine where you can go. Sometimes, the right opportunity and people who believe in you can change the future you imagine for yourself and your family.
