Swaraj Tractors and SML Mahindra Restore Five Flood-Affected Government Schools in Punjab

~ Mahindra Group companies reconstruct critical educational infrastructure in Amritsar and Gurdaspur, reaffirming commitment to community development and resilient rural ecosystems

Amritsar, August 6, 2026: Swaraj Tractors and SML Mahindra, both part of the Mahindra Group, today handed over five reconstructed government schools to Department of Education, Punjab Government in the flood-affected districts of Amritsar and Gurdaspur, reaffirming the Group's commitment to creating meaningful social impact and strengthening community resilience through its CSR initiatives.

The schools were formally handed over in the presence of Mr. Kanwaljit Singh, District Education Officer, Amritsar, senior dignitaries from Mahindra Group, Swaraj Tractors and SML Mahindra, and representatives from the NGO partner, Manav Vikas Sansthan.

The rehabilitation project was undertaken following the devastating floods that severely damaged educational infrastructure across Punjab's border districts, disrupting learning for hundreds of students. Through this initiative, Swaraj Tractors and SML Mahindra have restored safe, functional, and future-ready learning environments by rebuilding critical infrastructure across five government primary schools located in the villages of Machhiwala, Gujjarpura, and Samrai in Amritsar district, and Mansur and Singhpura in Gurdaspur district.

The formal handover ceremony was held at Government Primary School, village Machhiwala, Ajnala in the presence of representatives from the Department of School Education, district administration, school authorities, community leaders, students, and officials from Swaraj Tractors and SML Mahindra.

The project included the repair and reconstruction of classrooms, kitchen sheds, boundary walls, sanitation facilities, drinking water infrastructure, school furniture and other essential amenities. To further enhance the learning experience, digital learning panels have also been installed in each of the five schools.

School kits comprising school bags, stationery and other educational essentials were distributed to students during the event. These kits were supported through voluntary contributions made by Swaraj Tractors employees as part of the company's employee social responsibility initiatives.

Speaking about the initiative, Farida Balsara, Sr. Vice President & Group Head - CSR, Business and Legal Governance, Mahindra Group said that “This initiative goes beyond restoring infrastructure, it reflects our commitment to drive positive change by empowering communities, especially in times of adversity. By reconstructing the school infrastructure , we hope to provide children with a safe and nurturing environment where they can continue their learning journey.”
