Jaipur: The Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje unveiled the foundation stone of Mahindra World City, Jaipur, in the presence of Mr. Narpat Singh Rajvi, Honourable Minister of Industry, Government of Rajasthan; Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor of Infosys; Mr. T.V. Mohandas Pai - Member of the Board and Director - Human Resources, Infosys; Mr. A. Lakshman Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Wipro Technologies; Mr. Sunil Arora, Chairman RIICO & Ex-officio Chairman, Mahindra World City, Jaipur. Present on this momentous occasion were the Mahindra Group Chairman, Mr. Keshub Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and Mr. Arun Nanda, Executive Director-Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd & President of Infrastructure Development Sector.

Spread over an area of 3000 acres, Mahindra World City, Jaipur will provide corporates a world-class platform to expand their businesses to compete globally. The Mahindra World City, Jaipur is being developed as a multi-product Special Economic Zone on the format of an 'Integrated Business City' and is a joint venture between Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd (a Mahindra Group Company) and Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO, an agency of the Government of Rajasthan). Infosys and Wipro have chosen Mahindra World City, Jaipur as their next growth centre.

As phase-I of the development, an IT/ITES special economic zone is planned in 190 acres for which formal approval has already been received from the Government of India. It has also received an in-principle approval to set up multi-product special economic zone. In the next phase of development, Mahindra World City, Jaipur will offer world class facilities for industries from various sectors such as auto ancillary, apparel/ textiles, gems & jewelry etc. The project will also have state-of-the-art logistics facilities and will have an inland container depot. The project will be benchmarked with globally best operational SEZs in various parts of the world and will offer multiple options to prospective companies.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Keshub Mahindra said, 'SEZs have an important role to play for India to emerge as a manufacturing super power. The Mahindra Group’s World City projects across the country are a step in making India the leaders in addressing this need of the country. I am delighted to be here in Jaipur.'
