Started in 2007, this is a unique 90 - day livelihood training program for youth from socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Training is offered in 4 domains – IT Enabled Services, organised retail, hospitality & auto along with training in soft skills, life skills, English and computer skills. The Mahindra Pride Classrooms were started in 2016, with a vision to expand the reach of livelihood training to youth who are enrolled in government/ government aided vocational colleges and institutions. MPCs provide 40 - 120 hours of training to final year students on multiple topics including soft skills, life skills, aptitude tests, spoken English & interview skills. 3,04,244 students have been trained through 6764 MPCs in 18 states.
The Tech Mahindra Foundation (TMF) has been running SMART Academies since May 2016, with the intent of offering advanced courses in specialised vocations. At present, the Foundation offers 21 courses through its 7 SMART Academies including 3 for healthcare, 3 for digital technologies and 1 for logistics. 3646+ students have been trained so far.Know More
SMART Centres train youth from economically weaker sections of the urban community with the requisite employability skills. With structured training programs that offer over 40 courses in 10 domains, the program places great emphasis on foundational skills for a job such as Spoken English, Basic IT and Workplace Readiness and has benefitted 99509 youth.Know More
The SMART+ program focuses on skilling students with disabilities and helping them lead a financially independent and dignified life. The course includes training in Business Process Outsourcing, Hospitality, IT- Enabled Services, Retail and Logistics. 8994 students have been trained under the SMART+ program so far.Know More
Hunnar is a group wide umbrella CSR program for community initiatives related to skill development. These are targeted to benefit youth, including women and persons with disabilities from marginalised sections of society. The program includes vocational training in domains like auto, logistics, diesel generators, environment health and sustainability, interventions at govt ITIs, and skill development for tribal and women self-help groups. Till date, over 57,000 youth have been trained.
AFS sector in collaboration with the institute of sustainable communities runs this program to promote environment, health and sustainability within the industrial sector. The training is intended to increase the pool of skilled and qualified industrial workers available to implement EHS/ sustainability best practices in factories. 4389 students have benefitted from this project.
Mahindra Finance in collaboration with Sarthak Education Trust started Divyang Vikas Kendra at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in FY 2017-18 and at Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh in FY 2018-19. These centres are enabling youths with disabilities to live financially independent lives through vocational skill building and placement support creation. Training happens for 3 months on ITES, Retail , Hospitality and BFSI sector and has benefitted over 1100 individuals.
Mahindra Susten’s centre of excellence is a dedicated academy for teaching trade skills in the solar sector through its Suryamitra program. This is aimed at bridging the gap between the growing requirement for technicians in solar sector and lack of qualified trained workforce. 2395 youth have been trained since 2016.Know More
Mahindra Finance in coordination with Azad Foundation & ANEW has trained over 430 women to become drivers of a four-wheeler vehicles. The program was executed in Delhi, Kolkata, Indore, Ahmadabad, Bangalore & Chennai. It has transformed lives of underprivileged women by empowering them and providing them with earning opportunities in the society.
To promote non-traditional livelihood training in vehicle repairing and other related skill, Mahindra Finance in coordination with Skills For Progress & Pratham Education Foundation is trained 180 women across Trichy, Madurai, Erode, Dindigul & Nagapattinam and Kolhapur.
With the focus on upgradation of trades and converting govt ITIs into Centers of excellence, M&M signed an MOU with the Government of Maharashtra and the Director of Vocational Education in 2008-09 to adopt two rural ITIs – Ghodegoan & Manikdoh to improve processes and infrastructure. M&M has also carried similar interventions in 7 more ITIs under project Hunnar.
Mahindra Logistics launched the Defensive Driver Training under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna, in 2018. This project aims to provide ‘safe driving wisdom’, improve living and working conditions and enhance employability and self-esteem. MLL has trained 20,000 personnel including warehouse operators and truck drivers.
Mahindra World City, Jaipur has formed 100 SHG’s comprising of 1087 rural women from the surrounding villages. The purpose for creating SHGs is to empower the women economically, socially & legally. They intend to provide technical and entrepreneurship training to all members of SHG.
