Mahindra’s new electric hypercar company, Automobili Pininfarina, will mark another milestone in its journey, previewing the full-scale design concept of its PF0 electric hypercar to prospective customers at the world’s most prestigious automotive show, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California from August 22-26.
The production version of the PF0 will be launched at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, before going into limited production in 2020. Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra will attend the preview along with Automobili Pininfarina, prospective customers and other guests.
Michael Perschke, CEO, Automobili Pininfarina, said, “Numerous design icons from Pininfarina’s incredible history have won awards at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. I am excited to present a future Pininfarina classic to prospective owners in close proximity to this famous event. These special VIP previews mean that future PF0 owners, most of whom will undoubtedly own numerous modern and historic classics, have an opportunity right now to be part of the birth of the company and their hypercar.”
Among the iconic Pininfarina designs that have been showcased at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, was the Ferrari 512S Modulo concept that made its debut at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show, a poetic 50 years before the new PF0 is due to reach production. The PF0 will be handcrafted in Cambiano, Italy by the Pininfarina SpA atelier in strictly limited numbers.
The PF0, currently in the final stages of design, has been inspired by famous Pininfarina cars such as the Cisitalia, Modulo and Sintesi, each having the necessary blend of beauty and technological innovation in perfect combination and for being ahead of their time when presented. Future PF0 owners – no more than 150 worldwide – will have the same approach and results, inside and out.
Automobili Pininfarina Design Director, Luca Borgogno, said, “Pininfarina’s design values of elegance and simplicity present us with a fantastic opportunity to stand out from the styling of most current sports cars and hypercars.”
The sketches of the PF-Zero's interior, showing a minimalist and driver-focused layout for the two-seater were released recently. Under the elegant beauty of this vehicle’s design language lurks immense power; thePF0 will be the most powerful Italian sports car ever made — reaching 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in under two seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 250 mph (400 km/h).
