Mahindra Marazzo – Safest MPV in India

Reflecting Mahindra Group’s commitment towards safety as the first priority, Mahindra Marazzo achieves 4-star Global NCAP rating making it the safest MPV in India.

The Global NCAP crash test is designed to simulate a head-on collision between two cars. The car is driven at 64kph with 40% overlap into a deformable barrier, which is the equivalent of a crash between two cars of the same weight, both moving at 50kph.

The Marazzo with an energy absorbing steering column, 3-pt seatbelts for all occupants, low-speed bumper protection against parking lot type accidents, laminated front glass, front crash sensors, and engineered door trims to minimize injuries in side impact and a tensile occupant protection cage structure as standard, scored a whopping 4-star safety rating. Front occupants also get crash locking tongue & pre-tensioning and load limiting technology.

Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "This is a proud moment for the Mahindra Group as the 4-star rating for Adult Occupation Protection reiterates our commitment towards safety. We have designed the Marazzo with many new safety features to ensure a safe ride for our customers. With safety being at the forefront for all our vehicles, I am sure that this recognition will spur us to achieve higher safety parameters for our entire range of vehicles."

The Global NCAP crash test rating of four stars is valid for all Marazzo units produced starting 16th November, 2018.

Make Way for Pininfarina Battista

They say ‘What’s in a name?’
Well, in this case, there is a lot, indeed. Automobili Pininfarina’s much-awaited electric hypercar, PF0, is now christened Pininfarina Battista and named after Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the founder of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company that he started in 1930. The all-electric hypercar will be designed and hand-built at Pininfarina S.p.A in Cambiano, Italy, with only 150 units rolling out in the first phase under the supervision of Paulo Pininfarina, the legendary Battista’s grandson, and the current chairman of Pininfarina.

Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman Pininfarina SpA, said, “This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day; there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring.”

The Battista promises staggering performance for a road

car, with its extreme levels of technology and functional design. The new Pininfarina Battista will accelerate to 62 mph in less than two seconds, break the 250 mph top speed barrier, and provide a potential zero emissions range of over 300 miles. Initially, 50 cars were expected to be released in the USA, 50 in Europe, and 50 for the Middle East and Asia region. However, the demand is likely to outstrip supply with the markets likely to go full throttle on the bookings as the initial feedback suggests.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “We are really proud and grateful that Paolo and his family have allowed Battista’s name to be given to what will be a beautiful, elegant and technologically game-changing car. That is so appropriate for a car branded Pininfarina as these are core elements that have defined Pininfarina’s legendary automotive design for nearly 90 years. Now we hope to respectfully work with that legacy and deliver a stunning car that is worthy of his name.”

Fast Forward to 5G

The large-scale adoption of 5G will bring stupendous disruption in the media and entertainment industry and the heavy demand of video will fuel the need for cutting edge technology and streaming solutions. To cater to the future demand for video services in the 5G eco-system, Tech Mahindra has set up a ‘Video Integration and Engineering’ (VIE) platform.

5G is poised to take streaming capability in mobile phones and OTT platforms a notch higher with significant improvements in the transmission speed, quality and reliability. The adoption of 5G promises to enable close to zero latency and bring a manifold increase in download speeds.

The roll out of 5G network is expected to grow the global mobile media market over cellular networks from USD 170bn in 2018 to USD 420bn in 2028, leading to a staggering Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.8% that will be achieved over the next 10 years.

Anticipating the evolving need for powerful video streaming analytics, Tech Mahindra is poised to redefine

user experience and delivery with this new business unit. The move integrates 5G video capabilities into its IT roadmaps, especially where cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (AI) need to fit into the 5G architecture.

CP Gurnani, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Tech Mahindra, said, “The 5G revolution will unlock unprecedented opportunities in every industry vertical. The strategic establishment of a VIE platform - will help us increase our expertise in developing niche applications and services as well as cater to the exponentially growing digital video services market.”

Adding to this, Manish Vyas, President, Communications, Media & Entertainment Business, and the CEO, Network Services, said, “Our endeavor is to speed up the digital transformation of video for our clients and help reduce the costs and open up other revenue generation avenues for our clients and partners.”

Mahindra Brazil Continues to Lead in Farm Technology

Around 60 participants, including dealers, factory sales force and post-sales participated in the meet that also saw the Brazilian team present a prototype of its first narrow tractor. The Vice-President of Marketing & Strategic Planning of Mahindra Americas, Cleo Franklin, was a part of the event and addressed the gathering with optimism about the road ahead for Mahindra Brazil.

Mahindra Brazil took the opportunity to showcase their new brand campaign “Made in Brazil, For Brazil” that was launched to emphasize Mahindra’s commitment to the local market. The event also highlighted the model 6060C concept that has been fully developed by the Brazil Engineering team. This has led to a narrowed tractor version suitable for coffee and fruits farming (e.g. grape, orange and apple) and other crops applications.

Jak Torretta, General Director of Operations, Mahindra Brazil, said, “The number one selling tractors in the world have been investing in Brazil, bringing new products to the portfolio (26 to 95cv) that are locally made.
