MANA Opens Agriscience Learning Center in Detroit

Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) continues to empower Detroit residents, this time by setting up the Mahindra Agriscience Learning Center at Detroit’s Pingree Farms through the Urban Agriculture Grant Program. At the on-site study center, students will focus on learning agricultural and animal science, while the farm expands their agriscience curriculum and student enrollment.

Rick Haas, CEO and President, Mahindra Automotive North America, said, “The Mahindra Agriscience Learning Center will provide an excellent educational environment for students and community members to study and learn a wide range of food production techniques.”

The learning center was established with the conviction that education is the key to future sustainability in Detroit and beyond. This state-of-the-art learning center will focus on a well-rounded program to train a new generation of farmers and growers.

Since the initiation of the Urban Grants Program in 2015, MANA has donated nearly a half-million dollars in cash and farm equipment to 13 non-profits to support sustainable farming and gardening throughout South East Michigan. Groups that have received Mahindra grants or equipment over the past years have grown and distributed more than a million pounds of fresh food to Detroit residents.

In fact, MANA’s grant program has led Fortune magazine to include the Mahindra Group in its recent 2018 “Change the World List” that has 25 businesses across the globe working to “help the planet and tackle social problems.”
