Mahindra and Ford Deepen Strategic Relationship

Mahindra and Ford are driving their strategic relationship forward with the recent announcement of collaborations on powertrain sharing and connected car solutions.

The partnership began in September 2017, followed by the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in March 2018. Now on October 17, the two automotive leaders signed two agreements on powertrain sharing and the development of a suite of connected car solutions through a joint telematics control unit. The connected vehicle solution will be deployed across both Mahindra and Ford vehicles.

On powertrain sharing, the Mahindra Group will develop and supply a low-displacement petrol engine to Ford India for its present and future vehicles.

The BS-VI compliant powertrain will help Ford extend and strengthen its existing offering of petrol engines that currently includes the all-new three-cylinder Ti-VCT family.

Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “We are confident to meet customer expectations by working together in a number of joint development areas. We will continue to identify the synergies that exist between the two companies.”

The partnership continues to make progress on product development for India and emerging markets, including co-development of compact SUVs and electric vehicles.

Mumbaikars, Are You Listening?

“The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country,” is a famous quote by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.

Taking the literal meaning of this quote, over three lakh school children of around 310 schools have been made ambassadors for Phenk Mat, Mumbai, an anti-littering campaign by Club Mahindra, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Started in June 2017, the anti-littering campaign, Phenk Mat, Mumbai used Social Behavior Change Communication techniques and a combination of workshops, education, engagement and competitions to teach school children the importance of keeping Mumbai city clean.

The celebratory event for the successful implementation of this clean-up drive saw 73 children from 185 schools participate.

Phenk Mat, Mumbai is managed by Centre for Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBC3). The goal is to reach 400 schools, and impart skills that will make them ‘agents of change’, for Mumbai or wherever they are.

Arun Nanda, Campaign Chairman, Phenk Mat, Mumbai and Chairman, Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India, said, “I am delighted to see our campaign shaping positively by imbibing new practices and learnings in children towards a cleaner city. Children are capable of influencing the mass if they are really made aware of the larger consequences taking place in the society. Phenk Mat, Mumbai is one such initiative taken believing this fact and we are glad to see the encouraging result.”
