Mahindra Celebrates 73rd Founders’ Day with Pride

On October 2, 1945, two enterprising young men, Jagdish Chandra Mahindra and Kailash Chandra Mahindra, were inspired by the dream of a modern India. They were keen to contribute to the country's progress, entering key industries like steel and automobiles and bringing the iconic Jeep to India. This rugged and dependable utility vehicle was perfect for India’s rugged terrain.

Today the Mahindra Group is a USD 20.7 billion federation with more than 240,000 employees in over 100 countries across 11 sectors and 22 industries.

Every year, the Mahindra family celebrates October 2 as its Founders' Day as a tribute to our visionary and patriotic founders. This issue of Echo is dedicated to Founders’ Day and brings you some of the highlights from the celebrations held across the country earlier this week.

At Swaraj Division in Punjab, the Chief Guest was Rajeev Dubey, Group President (HR & Corporate Services) & CEO (After-Market Sector) Member of the Group Executive Board Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Photographs of the Founders were garlanded. A skit on gender diversity created awareness about womens empowerment. Swaraj Division employees and their families performed at the cultural program. Everybody pledged their participation to the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign and promised to be a Swachh Citizen.

600 Mahindra Employees Turn the Tide

Since its inception, Mahindra has believed in doing good for the communities in which it operates, a philosophy we call ‘Rise For Good’. This goes beyond philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and is more of an attitude, a way of life. The larger goal is to drive positive change for all our stakeholders.

This philosophy was put into action recently in Mumbai when 600 Mahindra employees volunteered for a coastal-clean up drive at Dadar Beach on September 27, organized by the Mahindra CSR team.

As a part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, under the Swachh Bharat project, this initiative aimed at restoring Dadar Beach to its pre-immersion state. Over 7,500 kg of waste and debris were collected and handed over to the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for further processing.

The drive saw participation from employees of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Tech Mahindra, Mahindra Susten, Mahindra Logistics, Mahindra Accelo, Mahindra First Choice Services, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, Mahindra Rural Housing Finance, and the Group Corporate office.
