Global Recognition for Mahindra Governance Standards

Over the years, the Mahindra Group has institutionalized the highest standards of corporate governance, which have emerged as industry benchmarks. In recognition of  the Company’s culture, policies, relationship with stakeholders, commitment to values and ethical business conduct, Mahindra & Mahindra has won the prestigious Business Vision 'Best Corporate Governance – India 2019' Award.

Every quarter, Business Vision seeks out individuals and organizations that shine. This search, aided by nominations from other business leaders, subscribers, journalists and industry heads – is global and not limited to any one market or country. For Mahindra & Mahindra, good corporate governance is an enabler — the Business Vision judging panel was particularly impressed by the Company’s track record for being ahead of legal requirements, and by its interactive approach to ensuring continual adaptation of governance practices to warrant the strongest possible foundation for the business. The judges were unanimous, and without hesitation, in declaring Mahindra & Mahindra as winner of the 2019 award for Best Corporate Governance (India).

Business Vision while announcing the winners said that with increasing levels of concern about globalization, the world needs examples. It needs global companies that work to the benefit of all stakeholders. Mahindra & Mahindra is one such company. While the “Three Ps” of sustainability are generally understood as People, Planet and Profit, Mahindra & Mahindra is known for adopting a fourth “P” — practicing good governance as a process.

Mahindra has made strong corporate governance its foundation for delivering innovation and sustainable growth across the many sectors in which it operates.

Since its inception, Mahindra Group has stood for many things that money cannot buy, the most essential being: reputation – a product of decades of ethical practices and good governance. With a belief that doing things the right way is just as important as doing the right things, several businesses within the group have goodness as their core value proposition. From the Farm Equipment sector's mission of driving rural prosperity worldwide, to Financial Services sector that strives for greater financial inclusivity – the Mahindra Group perceives doing business and doing good as two sides of the same coin.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, tweeted, “Thank you Business Vision for the recognition. But an even greater thank you to all the people at @MahindraRise who have lived up to the high expectations we set for ourselves. Governance is not about ticking a box; it’s a potent source of competitive advantage.”

Fueling India’s Future Automotive Engineers

Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 successfully concluded Phase 2 of its 12th Edition at IIT Ropar, Punjab, with an overwhelming response from all zones in India. The four-day competitive event evaluated engineering students on real-world design projects and solutions.

The event started with a Basic Static Evaluation round, which comprised design assessment, cost evaluation and marketing presentation that later moved on to the Dynamic Evaluation Round, judging the vehicles for acceleration, sledge pull, maneuverability, suspension and traction. In the final round, the teams showcased their prototype of a rugged single seat off-road recreational four-wheel vehicle. Enabling FarmTech Prosperity

Recent reports suggest a 6% increase in the horticulture-cropped land in the country in the past 37 years, as the nation continues to strive to improve agro-diversity and revenue. Mahindra Agri has been at the forefront of driving technology and digitization in Indian farming thereby helping farmers drive prosperity and productivity.

Mahindra’s Economic Desk analyzed the Indian horticultural sector recently in it’s report saying, “Agriculture growth in India was led by technological dissemination and diversification. Shift in crop acreage from supply driven value chain to a demand led market-oriented supply chain is gradually transforming the agriculture economy into commercial enterprise. Farm mechanization is one of the important factors influencing productivity. With micro-level planning of identifying geographies and the right machineries in areas of low level of mechanization can influence horticulture productivity in a significant way. Identifying market linkages and expansion of cold storage in the major markets can lead to improvement in profitability of this segment.”

With its aim to bring India at pace with the already digitized agriculture sector in the developed nations, Mahindra is working towards leveraging modern-day

technology to streamlining farming practices end-to-end. Its range of smart farming equipment is aimed at covering every aspect of the process from preparation of land to addressing post-harvesting requirements while ensuring the process is cost-effective and significantly boosts farmers’ income. Additionally, Mahindra provides a reliable value chain to the farmers for distribution of their agricultural produce at competitive rates ensuring deliverance of consistent prosperity.

The Indian farmers are central to Mahindra’s business vision for proliferating agri-prosperity in the country. With a strong engagement between the farmers and the community, and through investments in key technologies like micro-irrigation, crop care, advanced seeds, and digital platforms, Mahindra is changing the narrative around agriculture from subsistence to sustainability. TRRINGO, a revolutionary tractor and agriculture-equipment rental services, was born out of the same vision in 2016 and has already been successful in helping farmers from over 1,000 Indian villages. The Company also launched India’s first-ever Autonomous Tractor technology and became the first OEM to offer a cloud-based platform for tractors with DiGiSENSE.
