Futuristic Thinking

The third edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) organized by the Public Investment Fund in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focused on utilizing investments to drive growth opportunities, enable innovation and disruptive technologies, and address challenges that are shaping the global investment landscape.

Organized around the overall theme of ‘What is Next for Global Businesses?’, the event focused on three key pillars – Sustainable Future, Technology for Good and Advanced Societies. The event was attended by over 6,000 people from government leaders to heads of business conglomerates. They discussed new economic models and frontier technologies through keynotes, open conversations and plenary summits.

Delivering the keynote address for the plenary session on the ‘Rise of an Interconnected Economy’, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group said that the current global trade tensions have given India an opportunity to use its clout and negotiate bilateral trade deals.

Mr Anand Mahindra, said, “India is a beneficiary of trade friction and geopolitical tensions. Bilateralism works in favor of economies like India which are large, and people will want to negotiate with and get access to. India will benefit from this bilateral negotiation regime, and when multinationalism returns, India will be in a much more strategically placed position to take advantage of that.”

Anand Mahindra also discussed the state of India’s economy and the nation’s auto industry. Click here to watch the interview with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the FII in Riyadh.

Rugged Roxor

ROXOR, the ultimate off-road vehicle conceived, designed and engineered by Mahindra Automotive North America is leaving its mark on muddy trails, dusty worksites and hidden hunting spots across the world. After conquering the grueling NORRA Mexican 1000, a 1,250-mile off-road contest in the vast expanses of Baja, Mexico, the rugged, no-nonsense side-by-side is being proudly showcased at the premier automotive specialty products trade event, SEMA 2019 in Las Vegas, USA from November 5 to November 8, 2019.

With 70 years of heritage behind it and a world of adventure ahead, ROXOR is a tribute to Mahindra’s long history of assembling iconic military-grade vehicles beginning in 1947; it features a steel body on a boxed-steel frame, a heavy-duty Mahindra turbo-diesel 4-cylinder engine, and a truck-style transmission.

Two displays - one inside and one outside are showcasing the Marshal and the Coastal Cruiser dream concepts. The Marshal is a four-wheel-drive ROXOR with a twist on the yesteryear street rod taken to a variety of off-road terrains, while the Coastal Cruiser ROXOR incorporates the finest woodworking with Detroit steel.

Answering the strong commercial demand for ROXOR, also joining the dream concepts is a production ROXOR, finished with the exclusive ROXliner material that provides the most durable finish for the harshest trails.

NORRA Mexican 1000 racer Ned Bacon and the race-prepped, and race-conquered ‘Baja Bacon ROXOR’ at the outdoor display in SEMA 2019 are demonstrating what the ROXOR can takein its stride in harsh terrains.

Rich Ansell, Vice President of Marketing for Mahindra Automotive North America, said, “As ROXOR readies for the new model year 2020, the company is launching new model changes to the ROXOR that will appeal to the diverse customer base.
