Thinking Big for Small Farmers

Mahindra and Mahindra will participate at the world's largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment, Agritechnica, from November 10-16, in Hanover, Germany to showcase its diverse portfolio for global small farmers. Having made its debut at Agritechnica 2017, this year, M&M will introduce products from its global farm equipment portfolio, including the Mahindra, Mitsubishi, Armatrac, Sampo Rosenlew, and Hisarlar brands.

With a network of 200 agronomy advisory centers impacting 800,000 farmers, a dedicated platform for pay-per-use mechanization services, an agronomy-based farm-management platform, and precision farming solutions powered by advanced technologies the Mahindra Group is making farm- mechanization more affordable and accessible to farmers with smaller landholdings, giving them the same opportunity as farmers with larger landholdings, to improve productivity and income.

At Agritechnica 2019, Mahindra will showcase two such precision farming techniques – The Smart Fertilizing solution & The Smart Spraying solution.

M&M will also present DiGiSENSE, its embedded connected tractor platform, which empowers customers to track, receive alerts and monitor the health of their tractor anytime, anywhere.Mahindra is also showcasing its aftermarket asset tracking & optimization tool ‘Smart Track’. This is an AI-powered telematics solution designed to enhance efficiency and profitability in farm fleet management.

According to estimates from the UN, by 2050, the world’s population is expected to reach a staggering 9.1 billion. To keep up with this exponential rise, food production levels will have to go up by more than 70%. Technology holds the key to meet this surging demand.

French Connection

To drive future growth in core European markets and expand into new geographies, Mahindra Two Wheelers Europe, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. will acquire 100% ownership of Peugeot Motocycles (PMTC). This growth plan is backed by a robust investment plan which includes the introduction of seven new products between 2019 and 2021.

selling 50cc vehicle in Europe, the Metropolis is getting stronger in Europe and China, and the Urban GT connected Pulsion has received a positive market response. We fully support PMTC’s Promise 2020 plan and look forward to the future with enhanced optimism.”

The Peugeot brand will continue to be used in the future and the design teams of Peugeot will extend assistance in the design and development of PMTC products in close cooperation with the Mahindra Group.

Pininfarina Thinks Electric

Pininfarina has entered into a strategic agreement with China’s third-largest property developer, the Evergrande Group, for the design and development of a new range of Electric Vehicles (EV). This partnership will harness Pininfarina’s expertise in the field of vehicle development, its R&D capabilities as well as utilize the existing resources of Evergrande to jointly develop a new range of innovative models for the car brand, ‘Hengchi’. In China, Evergrande has smart luxury factories in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tianjin and, Shenyang. They are known to use the best equipment and production technologies in the world for the development of EVs. Earlier this year, the Evergrande Group launched its first-ever Electric Vehicles.

Silvio Angori, CEO, Pininfarina, said, “We are honored to start this long-term cooperation with Evergrande. We are

matching their vision of working with the international community to speed up innovations in New Energy Vehicle (NEV) technologies. We strongly believe that our cooperation will be successful and help the development of this new mobility model which in turn will build a clean world.”

Earlier this month, Evergrande Group’s Chairman and his team visited the Pininfarina headquarters in Cambiano, Turin, Italy, where they met Chairman, Paolo Pininfarina and Silvio Angori, CEO, Pininfarina Group, along with other top executives from the firm. The aim of the visit was a preliminary discussion on joint future projects and a design review of the new models that Pininfarina is currently developing for Evergrande.

Quantoz Leap for Tech Mahindra

Tech Mahindra has joined hands with Netherlands-based innovative Blockchain technology application incubator, Quantoz to offer Blockchain-as-a-Service for secure digital payments. Quantoz will leverage Tech Mahindra's extensive experience and reach to offer the Quasar drive platform as a key tool to drive digital transformation for clients.

This disruptive solution, Quasar, will also enable the integration of currencies like the US Dollar or Euro, and legacy systems. Further, it will enable instant, irreversible digital cash payments among enterprises, people and devices.


Through Blockchain technology, companies can create an irrevocable digital ledger of transactions. Since this technology removes the need for a central authority to manage transactions, the dealings will be highly secure and impenetrable for hackers.

Tech Mahindra has already successfully deployed production-grade Quasar Drive at its research and development arm, Makers Lab in India and the United States to enable customers to immediately pilot with any connected product.

Coding for Good

With the aim of providing quality education and digital access to over 11,000 underprivileged girl children by 2020, SAP India’s Code Unnati project has joined hands with Project Nanhi Kali which was founded by the Mahindra Group.

Through ‘Code Unnati’, India’s first-ever corporate-to-citizen, collaborative digital literacy and software skills development initiative by SAP, this partnership will help improve the quality of education for girl children and prepare them for the digital future.

The partnership between Project Nanhi Kali and SAP will help take this noble cause to the next level with the support of advanced digital technology. I have been advocating ‘Corporates for Change’ and the multiplier effect it could bring when like-minded corporates come together. This association is a classic case in point.”

For thousands of underprivileged girl children across India, only education can give them an opportunity to grow, learn, play and realize their full potential. Project Nanhi Kali works to ensure that not only do such girl children get access to quality education, but also complete 10 years of it.

Project Nanhi Kali already provides Secondary School girls in the program with access to digital tablets pre-loaded with educational content. To further navigate the movement towards digital literacy, this partnership will provide academic support centers with trained tutors focusing on interactive and concept-based learning, curated courses for school students and advanced software skill development courses for the youth, parent sensitization, and regular assessments.
