Mahindra Logistics to upskill 2,500 warehouse operators in 200 locations

Mahindra Logistics plans to empower warehouse operators with training on skills, safety and security.

Skilling is a vital cog in India’s growth story and that is what Mahindra Logistics (a part of the USD 1 billion Mahindra Partners) has taken on. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Mahindra Logistics plans to train and empower 2,500 warehouse operators across 200 locations in India by March 2020.

Mahindra Logistics currently manages more than 0.92 million sq.mt. (15 million sq. ft) warehouse space at multiple locations across the country. India’s economic growth story calls for skilling and productivity improvements in the logistics sector, and specifically in the warehousing segment. The domestic logistics industry is estimated to touch US$500 billion by 2025 and the total supply of warehousing space is likely to double by 2022.

Rampraveen Swaminathan, CEO, Mahindra Logistics, says: “Warehouse operators are critical as they ensure smooth functioning of the entire supply chain. We seek to empower the entire eco-system, ensuring upliftment to impart necessary skill-sets and improving the lifestyle of these operators.” The training will also focus on behavioural and soft skills such as inter-personal skills, stress management and coordinating with different teams.

Under the PMKVY scheme, candidates receive a monetary reward, a mark sheet and a certificate from the Government of India. Mahindra Logistics has trained 12,000 drivers in 2019 and has plans to train 7,000 more by March 2020.
