Mahindra enhanced its mobility solutions portfolio across the spectrum of personal and shared mobility in 2019. Some of the key launches and unveils included-
Baby Cheetah roars to life: Mahindra’s highly anticipated compact SUV, the XUV300 was launched in February 2019 to strong positive feedback from the automotive media and customers alike. With its cheetah-inspired design and agility, the new model offered thrilling performance and several advanced, segment-first features.
Battista electric hypercar unveiled: In March 2019, Automobili Pininfarina lifted the veil off the Battista, the world’s first electric hypercar. The two-seat coupe is the first model from Munich based Automobili Pininfarina, which was established in 2018 by the Mahindra Group. A revolution in automotive performance, design and technical collaboration, Battista is the first in a range of purely electric, zero-emission luxury cars.
French connection: Mahindra crossed yet another milestone beginning the export of two-wheelers to Europe. The company exported its first batch of the E-Ludix, to its subsidiary Peugeot Motocycles in France. The E-Ludix is a moped-style two-wheeler, that is powered by a 3-kW electric motor, with a top speed limited to 45 kph.
Electric Glyd: In February last year, the Mahindra Group entered the e-mobility space with the launch of Glyd, in Mumbai. This is a premium e-mobility solution that redefines the commuting experience. The service uses Mahindra eVeritos that are equipped with several connected car features including web-conferencing, curated entertainment and music content from selective partners.
All new Korando: SsangYong Motor Company, a part of the Mahindra Group launched its all-new SsangYong Korando for Europe, in March. This fourth-generation model is completely revamped offering an all-new exterior design, as well as spacious and premium interiors. It also bristles with the very latest in-car technology and connectivity features.
In the commercial and farm equipment categories, the Group launched the following vehicles:
Fast and FURIO-us: With an unprecedented “More Profit or Truck Back” guarantee, the all new FURIO heralded Mahindra’s entry into the Intermediate Commercial Vehicle (ICV) segment. Powered by a super-efficient, lightweight, low friction engine coupledwith the company’s FuelSmart technology, the FURIO optimizes fuel consumption and gives unmatched mileage
Sri Lankan debut: The Mahindra Group, with Sri Lanka’s Ideal Motors Ltd. became the first automobile company in Sri Lanka to unveil an all-electric three-wheeler, a sustainable choice for the last mile commute in the country. Mahindra also began assembling the KUV 100 compact SUV in Sri Lanka and now offers a world class range of vehicles in this important export market.
Expanding our Global Footprint: Mahindra and Mahindra continued to increase its footprint across various geographies with strategic alliances and partnerships
Partnering with Ford: Mahindra and Ford further strengthened their ongoing collaboration with the formation of a new company headed by Mahindra that would develop and sell new Mahindra and Ford models in India and other global markets. This includes a new mid-size Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV)and a range of other SUV models.
Mahindra Finance partners Manulife Canada: With the aim of expanding the depth and breadth of fund offerings and retail fund penetration in India, Mahindra Finance and leading global financial services group, Manulife, Canada entered into a partnership in June 2019. Both companies have a shared vision of building a market leading asset management business servicing the needs of retail investors.
Tech Mahindra and Airbus take flight: A partnership between Tech Mahindra and Airbus is identifying disruptive trends in the growing airline industry and heralding a new generation of creative cabin innovations. Both companies signed a multi-year contract for cabin and cargo design engineering. Tech Mahindra with its ‘Enhanced Intelligence and Collaborative Disruption’ program will capitalize on the specialized skills and competencies in the growing Cabin Engineering business.
Applying swiss precision to farming techniques: In 2019, Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector entered into a strategic alliance with Switzerland-based agri-tech firm, Gamaya SA, to provide futuristic agronomic solutions to the global farming community. Gamaya SA uses the world’s most advanced solution for the diagnostics of farmland using a unique imaging technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Walking the green mile: The Mahindra Group continued to lead the way when it came to businesses taking effective action against climate change. It was the only Indian corporate to be listed as an “Organization to Watch” by the GreenBiz Group in its prestigious 2019 ‘State of Green Business’ report.The report analyzes key trends and metrics to assess how companies worldwide are adapting their business models to address the existential threat of climate change.
Averting a climate crisis: At the United Nations’ Climate Action Summit in New York, on September 23, 2019, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, addressed world leaders, governments, business conglomerates, and urged them to take on an urgent and collective course of action in tackling the climate crisis and to recognize the key role that companies play in driving progress on the global agenda.
A SMART Academy for women: To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Tech Mahindra Foundation launched an all-women SMART Academy for Healthcare in Mumbai. The state-of-the-art institute is aimed at helping women make a career in the healthcare sector. It is equipped with hospital simulated labs, industry-relevant study material, and experienced faculty to help young women make a career in the healthcare sector.
Women rising: A common perception is that an automobile workshop is a man’s domain. The Mahindra Group dispelled this notion in October, by launching India’s first, all-women run automobile workshop in Jaipur. This initiative is a part of Mahindra’s #pinkcollar program that encourages the participation of women in the workforce, particularly in core sectors and bring more women on board across roles in the automotive industry.
