Mumbai: K.C. Mahindra Education Trust today announced the launch of its new Nanhi Kali website (www.nanhikali.org) on the eve of International Women’s Day. Nanhi Kali is a national sponsorship programme which supports the education of the disadvantaged girl child. Established in 1996 by the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET), Project Nanhi Kali, currently managed by KCMET and Naandi Foundation, is supporting the education of over 36,000 disadvantaged girl children across the country. Celebrated globally, International Women’s Day honours women's advancement and is a reminder of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that women's equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life.

Speaking at the website launch, Mr. Anand Mahindra, VC & MD, Mahindra Group, and founder of the Nanhi Kali program, said, 'I am extremely pleased to launch the new Nanhi Kali website on the eve of Women’s Day. The Mahindra group firmly believes that education, especially of the girl child, is of paramount importance to ensure a better quality of life for generations to come. The new website will help us garner tremendous support from within our country and help us to get global support, thereby enabling us to reach our target of supporting the education 1,00,000 Nanhi Kalis.'

About the Nanhi Kali website

The Nanhi Kali website www.nanhikali.org enjoys a host of new features. Sponsors of Nanhi Kalis can view the progress of their Nanhi Kalis online, apart from making their renewals through the payment gateway. First time donors too can make their donations online after checking out the credentials of K.C. Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation, the two not for profits, who jointly manage the program. Visitors can participate on the Nanhi Kali blog, browse through the latest news updates on the project and also view the video and photo gallery. The ‘Tell a Friend’ link enables visitors to spread awareness of this special cause for the Girl Child.

About the Nanhi Kali Project

Established in 1996, Nanhi Kali is a special project jointly managed by the K. C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) and Naandi Foundation, aimed at providing 10 years of quality education to the underprivileged girl child in India. This national girl child sponsorship programme provides both academic support and direct material support in the form of uniforms, clothes, note books etc. The project currently supports the education of over 36,000 underprivileged girl children across 8 states in India and aims to support 1,00,000 girl children by the end of 2008.
