Anand Mahindra
Anand Mahindra, the group's Managing Director since 1997, became its Chairman in 2012, a position from where he continues to lead our evolution. As the group's leader-statesman, Anand's tenure has seen us strengthen our presence in India, blaze new trails the world over, and focus on innovation and technology as Mahindra's key drivers in the 21st century. Anand also spearheads our efforts to codify our philosophy of empowering people everywhere to Rise, and has made Mahindra a coveted, purpose-driven brand. His global perspective has led to a renewed focus on our culture, making Mahindra a great place to work. Mahindra's critical shift in its mind-set, from second-to-none to a global federation of innovative companies, has been Anand's singular achievement.

Anand's career at Mahindra began at Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Ltd., the country's foremost producer of specialty steels, as an Executive Assistant to the then Finance Director. In 1989, he was appointed its President and Deputy Managing Director. Two years later, he moved to Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., kick-starting our era as the country's dominant producer of off-road vehicles and agricultural tractors. His storied rise has seen the group acquire, amongst others, Swaraj Tractors, Ssangyong Motors, Reva Electric Car Company, Satyam Computer Services, Gipps Aero, Aerostaff Australia and Peugeot Scooters.

Anand is co-founder of the Harvard Business School Association of India and has served on the Boards of the National Stock Exchange of India and the National Council of Applied Economic Research, as Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Institute of Design, and as a member of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Some of his other noteworthy accolades include being listed by Fortune Magazine as among the World's 50 Greatest Leaders (2014) and being voted "Entrepreneur of the Year" at the Forbes India Leadership Awards (2013).

A noted business commentator and humanitarian with over 3.2 million followers on Twitter, Anand frequently makes the case for Indian business at global forums. He initiated the Nanhi Kali programme two decades ago to provide free education to economically under-privileged girls. He's also responsible for one of the largest personal donations overseas by an Indian - an endowment of 10 million USD to the Harvard Humanities Center, which has been renamed as the Mahindra Humanities Center.

Anand graduated with honours (magna cum laude) from Harvard College, Massachusetts, in 1977, and secured an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1981.
Anupam Puri
Independent Director
Anupam, known as Tino, joined the Board in 2001. He is also a Board Member of Tech Mahindra and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, on the advisory boards of Spencer Stuart and Corsair Capital, and a Special Advisor for General Atlantic Partners.

With over 30 years under his belt at McKinsey & Company, Tino worked with international corporate clients across several industries on strategy and organizational issues, and advised several governments and multilateral institutions on public policy.

Tino holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Delhi University, a Master's degree in Economics from Balliol College, Oxford University, and a Master of Philosophy degree in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford University.

During the 1990s, Tino spearheaded the development of McKinsey's well-respected and vibrant practice in India. He also oversaw the Asian and Latin American offices, and was an elected member of the Board.

Tino lives in New York City with his wife, an Indian classical dancer and choreographer. They are both deeply engaged in the visual and performing arts.
Deepak Parekh
Independent Director
Deepak, joined the Board in 1990. He began his storied career at Ernst & Young Management Consultancy Services in New York City, and after stints at Grindlays Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank, he joined HDFC in 1978 and currently serves as its non-executive chairman.

Deepak is also the non-executive chairman of Glaxo India Ltd & Burroughs Wellcome (India) Ltd, and sits on the Boards of Castrol India Ltd, Hindustan Unilever, Siemens Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra, Indian Hotels Company and SingTel. He is an advisory board member of AIESEC India and US Engineering consultancy giant, AECOM. Deepak has served on a number of other Advisory Committees and taskforces. He has counselled the Government of India on attracting foreign investment, housing finance institutions, forward trading, attracting regional investments in key projects, taxation of life insurance groups, securities market regulation, bank restructuring, power sector reforms, civil aviation, and consumer interests.

The President of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan in 2006 for his outstanding services to the country.
MM Murugappan
Independent Director
MM Murugappan, joined the Board of in 1992. He is currently Chairman of Carborundum Universal, Tube Investments of India, and Wendt India.

A member of the Supervisory Board of the Murugappa Group, MM Murugappan is an expert in technology and research strategies. He belongs to the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Plastics Rubber Institute. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

MM Murugappan received his Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the University of Madras, India. He attended the University of Michigan, USA for his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering.

He likes to spend his free time on the golf course, is an avid reader, and enjoys classical music and the theater. He lives in Chennai with his wife. They have two sons.
Nadir Godrej
Independent Director
Nadir, joined the Board in 1992. He is currently the Managing Director of Godrej Industries, India's leading manufacturer of oleochemicals, edible oils, vanaspati, and bakery fats.

Today, Nadir serves on the Boards of several companies including Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), Indian Hotels Company, and several Godrej Group companies. Nadir is a member of the Advisory Committees of the Indian Chemical Manufacturers' Association, and a trustee of the Foundation of Medical Research, Mumbai.

He has also served as President of the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers' Association of India, the Oil Technologists' Association of India, and the Protein Food & Nutrition Development Association. Currently President of the Alliance Francaise de Bombay, Nadir has received the Ordre National du Merite and the Ordre National De La LegionD'Honneur from the Government of France for his achievements.

Nadir earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston. He attended Stanford University for his Masters in Chemical Engineering and received his MBA from Harvard University as a George F. Baker Scholar.

Nadir lives in Mumbai with his wife, Dr. Rati Godrej. They have three sons. In 1991, he wrote a collection of poems in English and French titled "Life and Other Poems".
Pawan Goenka
Managing Director
Pawan, combines a keen business sense with unmatched technological prowess. As Mahindra's resident automobile technological wizard, Pawan is better known in India as the father of the Scorpio. It is a vehicle that not only defines the very best of what we offer, but continues to set new benchmarks for the Indian automobile industry to aspire to.

Pawan joined Mahindra in 1993 with our research and development (R&D) division still in its infancy, and under his leadership, it's now a repository of global mobility solutions. The Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, and the Mahindra North American Technical Centre in Detroit were conceived and commanded by Pawan.

Today, Pawan is leading our charge towards a sustainable future by executing our vision of the future of mobility, in particular with the Reva, our all-electric vehicle that embraces the 5C's of our vision: clean, convenient, connected, clever, and cost-effective. After serving as the COO of the Automotive Sector, Pawan was appointed as the President of the Automotive sector in 2005. The Farm Equipment sector was added to his portfolio in 2010. He was appointed Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra in 2013, and took over the Two Wheeler business the following year.

In his 14 years at General Motors in the Motor City prior to Mahindra, Pawan created methods to analyze engine bearings and engine friction that are still in use today. His automotive accomplishments have resulted in numerous honours, including being named Autocar's Man of the Year in 2007, and the Automotive Man of the Year at the 2011 NDTV Car & Bike Awards. He is a fellow of the Society of Automobile Engineers (International) and the Indian National Academy of Engineers.

Pawan holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur; a PhD from Cornell University, USA; and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

When not thinking about automobiles, Pawan can be found watching Bollywood movies or playing cards. He lives in Mumbai with his wife, who volunteers her time to counsel cancer patients and help them receive proper treatment and post-operative care. They have two children.
Ravindra Kulkarni
Independent Director
Ravi, joined the Board of in 1997. Since 2005, he has been a Senior Partner at the legal firm Khaitan & Co, Mumbai. With over 35 years in legal practice, Ravi began his career with Little & Co and rapidly rose to become a Partner. He pioneered the firm's entry into indirect taxation, capital markets, and infrastructure and project finance.

He joined Khaitan & Co in 2005, where he led the company's growth from 30 lawyers to 120 in a five-year period. Ravi is a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, and the Bombay Incorporated Law Society. He is a member of both the faculty and the Advisory Committee for the Security Law course offered by the Government Law College, Mumbai.

Ravi received his BS from Ramnarain Ruia College, University of Mumbai and his LLB from the University of Law, where he also received the Sir Charles Sergeant Memorial Award. He earned his LLM from the University of Mumbai, and passed the Articled Clerks' examination conducted by the Incorporated Law Society, Mumbai, with the highest marks in Company Law and Taxation.

In his spare time, Ravi enjoys reading history, geography, and current affairs, and listening to Indian classical music and jazz, and watching avante garde and experimental theatre and cinema. He is a member of Prabhat Chitra Mandal, a Mumbai film society. He lives in Mumbai with his wife. They have a daughter and a son.
SB Mainak
Nominee Director
SB Mainak, a Chartered Accountant, is the Managing Director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). SB also chairs the LIC Nomura Mutual Fund Trustee Co. Pvt. Ltd, is on the Boards of the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, LIC Cards Services Limited, LIC Pension Fund, and LIC (Nepal) Limited.

He also serves as the Deputy President of the Insurance Institute of India and is a member of National Insurance Academy, Pune. The Government of India appointed him on the Board of Satyam Computer Services Ltd as an Independent Director to oversee its restructuring. SB joined LIC as a Direct Recruit Officer (CA batch) in the year 1983, and acquired a wide range of experience, working not only in Finance and Accounts, but also on marketing assignments as Senior Branch Manager, Divisional Manager of Pension & Group Super Annuation, and in various capacities in the investment department.

He has also taught at the National Insurance Academy (NIA), Pune, as Professor (Life Insurance) and Head of the Finance Department at NIA, where he was instrumental in creating teaching programmes for Insurance company officials.
Vikram Singh Mehta
Independent Director
Vikram, joined the Board in May 2012. He serves as the Chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in India, a position he's held since 1994.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (Hons.) from St. Stephens College, Delhi University, a Master's degree in Politics & Economics (Hons.) from Magdalen College, Oxford University, and a Master's Degree in Energy Economics from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
Dr. Vishaka Desai
Independent Director
Vishakha , joined the Board in May 2012. She is President and CEO of the Asia Society, a leading global organization committed to strengthening partnerships among the people, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States.

Dr. Desai holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Mumbai, and an MA and PhD in Asian Art History from the University of Michigan.
