“Learning something new is a very fulfilling experience and there is a lesson we can learn from every problem and every person.” That’s the optimism with which Arti faced every challenge in life.
Arti Gade is 21 years old and was born in Chasnali village, Maharashtra. Her father is a farmer and was the sole earner in the family with a monthly income of INR 8,000. On some days, he couldn’t pay her school fees. As a result, she was punished in class. While her father managed to fund her schooling, he couldn’t afford to pay for graduation. So, her uncle offered financial aid to enable her to study further.
In her 3rd year of college, COVID-19 hit the world. The thought of losing her degree filled Arti with trepidation. Nonetheless, she studied online and completed her graduation. She recalls this year as one of the toughest ones. Being dependent made her feel uncomfortable and drove her to become independent.
After graduating, she gave twelve job interviews but failed to make the cut. She was naturally shy and everytime she sat across from an interviewer and answered questions, she got cold feet as she was not adequately skilled. So her sister, an alumnus of Mahindra Pride School, suggested she enroll for the program. At MPS, Arti benefitted from the computer, English language and life skills courses. She says, “The first time I was asked to speak in class in front of 26 people, I was hesitant but it was a ‘now or never’ moment. Over time, the soft skills training truly boosted my confidence.” The mock interviews further prepared her to tackle questions to secure a job.
Post training at MPS, Arti secured 3 job offers. Today, she works as an Associate Team Member at SLK Global Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Pune. From not being chosen for a job to choosing the best amongst many job offers, Arti’s skills have made her unstoppable. Besides working and supporting her family, she dreams to study further and become a lecturer. She believes her zeal to learn has brought her this far and her key takeaway from life is, “Every problem has a solution.”
Mahindra salutes the challenger spirit of people like Arti, who are eager to learn and work towards realising their dreams.
