Increases in Energy Productivity will be crucial to the business strategy, growth and competitiveness of the Mahindra Group in the future.
In fact, Mahindra & Mahindra is the first company in the world to sign on to the EP100 program, the global, collaborative initiative of influential businesses that pledges to double their energy productivity by 2030. Recently, Mahindra Holidays (RE100), Mahindra Heavy Engines Limited (MHEL) and Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Limited (MVML) have also signed up to EP100. MVML is committing to doubling its energy productivity by 2039, compared to 2014, while MHEL plans to double its energy productivity by 2041, over 2016.

In addition to this, Mahindra Electric has also signed up on the EV100, a global initiative bringing together forward-looking companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and making electric transport the new normal by 2030. EV100 is part of a growing family of corporate leadership initiatives led by The Climate Group, an NGO, and is part of the We Mean Business coalition’s work to address the key components of a future-proofed and low carbon business model.
Among the initiatives that MHEL and MVML have implemented under the Energy Management System are Smart Metering, Smart Lighting, and Smart Ambient Control, using IoT platform and also leveraging Data Analytics for optimising the usage.
The companies have introduced integrated energy efficiency guidelines in the procurement process and purchase of energy efficiency products, equipment and services (energy efficient motors, lights, air conditioners and machines) as per the Green Procurement Guidelines. The emphasis on Green Building helps in improving the energy efficiency of buildings. Adopting renewable energy by way of solar and wind power will also help in reducing energy costs, increasing energy security and reducing the carbon footprint.
