Chairman Emeritus

With close to seven decades of professional wisdom, Keshub Mahindra is Mahindra’s Chairman Emeritus, our model corporate citizen, and our conscience. Since he joined us in 1947 after graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Keshub has defined not only how big we’ve become – but also how we’ve become big. He served as our Chairman from 1963 – 2012, laying the foundation for our growth, and redefining good governance in India Inc. for good measure.

Keshub’s contribution to the Indian industry has established him as one of its founding captains whose success was as national as it was professional.

A renowned philanthropist, Keshub today continues to mentor and guide our growth. Aside from serving on several boards and councils, his numerous honours include the Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Legion d'Honneur (1987), Member of Council, The United World Colleges (International) UK, Chairman of the Mahindra Foundation, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award (2007), and the Wharton Alumni Award for Distinguished Service (2013).

Anand Mahindra, the group's Managing Director since 1997, became its Chairman in 2012, a position from where he continues to lead our evolution. As the group's leader-statesman, Anand's tenure has seen us strengthen our presence in India, blaze new trails the world over, and focus on innovation and technology as Mahindra's key drivers in the 21st century. Anand also spearheads our efforts to codify our philosophy of empowering people everywhere to Rise, and has made Mahindra a coveted, purpose-driven brand. His global perspective has led to a renewed focus on our culture, making Mahindra a great place to work. Mahindra's critical shift in its mind-set, from second-to-none to a global federation of innovative companies, has been Anand's singular achievement.

Anand's career at Mahindra began at Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Ltd., the country's foremost producer of specialty steels, as an Executive Assistant to the then Finance Director. In 1989, he was appointed its President and Deputy Managing Director. Two years later, he moved to Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., kick-starting our era as the country's dominant producer of off-road vehicles and agricultural tractors. His storied rise has seen the group acquire, amongst others, Swaraj Tractors, Ssangyong Motors, Reva Electric Car Company, Satyam Computer Services, Gipps Aero, Aerostaff Australia and Peugeot Scooters.

Anand is co-founder of the Harvard Business School Association of India and has served on the Boards of the National Stock Exchange of India and the National Council of Applied Economic Research, as Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Institute of Design, and as a member of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Some of his other noteworthy accolades include being listed by Fortune Magazine as among the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders (2014) and being voted "Entrepreneur of the Year" at the Forbes India Leadership Awards (2013).

A noted business commentator and humanitarian with over 3.1 million followers on Twitter, Anand frequently makes the case for Indian business at global forums. He initiated the Nanhi Kali programme two decades ago to provide free education to economically under-privileged girls. He's also responsible for one of the largest personal donations overseas by an Indian - an endowment of 10 million USD to the Harvard Humanities Center, which has been renamed as the Mahindra Humanities Center.

Anand graduated with honours (magna cum laude) from Harvard College, Massachusetts, in 1977, and secured an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1981.

A multi-faceted leader, Rajeev Dubey is President of Group HR, tasked with building a global workforce and translating our employees’ latent potential into world-class performance. To this end, Rajeev created and continues to lead the Mahindra Leadership University, which incubates and develops our innovative global workforce. As head of the after-market sector, he endeavours to create a world class and India's largest pre-owned cars and services business. 

Rajeev leads with a whole-brained approach, applying his creativity - acquired from his experience as a theatre artiste - and strategic expertise gleaned from this many years in the corporate sector. Rajeev’s other key focus areas include corporate communications, government relations and corporate infrastructure services. In addition to being the President of the Aftermarket sector, he also serves as the Chairman of Mahindra Insurance Brokers and Mahindra First Choice Services, and is on the boards of several Group companies.

As the Chairman of the Group CSR Council and the Corporate Governance Cell, one of Rajeev’s key directives is to ensure a responsible, sustainable Mahindra. He’s also a member of the Group Sustainability Council, the Governing Council of the Mahindra Institute of Quality, and the Governing Board of Mahindra École Centrale.

Rajeev joined Mahindra in 2004 after a career spanning 29 years in the Tata Group, which he joined in 1975. He is an alumnus of the Yale School of Management, Connecticut, USA and St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi.

As an actor and voiceover artist to boot, Rajeev has been involved in theatre and has acted in numerous TV and radio plays over the years, working with professional theatre groups in Delhi and Kolkata. He currently lives in Mumbai with his wife, Padma, and their two children.

Pawan combines a keen business sense with unmatched technological prowess. As Mahindra’s resident automobile technological wizard, Pawan is better known in India as the father of the Scorpio. It is a vehicle that not only defines the very best of what we offer, but continues to set new benchmarks for the Indian automobile industry.

Pawan joined Mahindra in 1993 with our research and development (R&D) division still in its infancy, and under his leadership, it’s now a repository of global mobility solutions. The Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, and the Mahindra North American Technical Centre in Detroit were conceived and commanded by Pawan.

Today, Pawan is leading our charge towards a sustainable future by executing our vision of the future of mobility, in particular with our all electric vehicles that embrace the 5C’s of our vision: clean, convenient, connected, clever, and cost-effective. After serving as the COO of the Automotive Sector, Pawan was appointed as the President of the Automotive sector in 2005. The Farm Equipment sector was added to his portfolio in 2010. He was appointed Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra in 2013, and took over the Two Wheeler business the following year.

In his 14 years at General Motors in the Motor City prior to Mahindra, Pawan created methods to analyze engine bearings and engine friction that are still in use today. His automotive accomplishments have resulted in numerous honours, including being named Autocar’s Man of the Year in 2007, and the Automotive Man of the Year at the 2011 NDTV Car & Bike Awards. He is a fellow of the Society of Automobile Engineers (International) and the Indian National Academy of Engineers.

Pawan holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur; a PhD from Cornell University, USA; and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

When not thinking about automobiles, Pawan can be found watching Bollywood movies or playing cards. He lives in Mumbai with his wife, who volunteers her time to counsel cancer patients and help them receive proper treatment and post-operative care. They have two children.

Anish Shah is the Group President (Strategy) for the Mahindra Group. His key focus areas are strategy development and implementation, building capabilities such as digitization and analytics, driving international growth especially in the US and Africa. The Group Strategy office also leads Risk Management and Performance Review, plus enables synergies across Group companies.

Prior to joining us in 2014, Anish was President and CEO of GE Capital India, where he led the transformation of the business, including a turnaround of its SBI Card joint venture. His career at GE spanned 14 years. As Director, Global Mortgage, he worked across more than thirty countries to drive growth and manage risk, and as Senior Vice President (Marketing and Product Development) at GE Mortgage Insurance, he led various growth initiatives and played a key role in preparing the business for an IPO, as a spinoff from GE. Anish also received GE’s prestigious Lewis Latimer Award for outstanding utilization of Six Sigma in developing a "Digital Cockpit." Before GE, Anish worked at Bank of America, Bain & Company, and Citibank.

Anish holds a PhD from Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business where his doctoral thesis was in the field of corporate governance. He also received a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon, and a post-graduate diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Group President & CEO - Aerospace & Defence Sector

SP Shukla is a Member of the Group Executive Board at Mahindra and as Group President, is responsible for the Aerospace and Defence Sector. He is also the Chairman of Mahindra Sanyo Special Steels.

A B.Tech & MBA, he has 34 years of rich, varied experience in managing large projects and operations. He has been a top professional in the field of Automotive Tyres and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) in India and is widely credited with taking mobile telephony to the masses by setting up telecom infrastructure in the remotest parts of India.

Prior to his current role, Shukla served as President of Group Strategy and Chief Brand Officer of the Mahindra Group. He oversaw and orchestrated a complete makeover of the visual identity of the Mahindra Group. It was during this period that the Group Strategy Office launched and institutionalized the Rise Prize (with prize money of US $ 1 million) that aims to foster and develop an innovation eco-system in India. He has also been responsible for the Mahindra Racing portfolio – both Moto3 (Motorcycle) and Formula E (Electric Cars) - in his capacity as Chief Brand Officer.

He has also served as the Chairman of the Group Brand Council & as Member of the Investment Committee of Mahindra Partners. He continues to serve as Chairman of the Mahindra Innovation Academy and the Africa Council. He is also Director on the Board of various Group companies such as Bristlecone, Mahindra Retail and Mahindra First Choice Services.

Defence and Aerospace are major focus areas for the Mahindra Group as it gears up to harness the vast potential that is emerging in these two sectors under the “Make in India” policy of the Indian Government.

Shukla is Chairman of several companies engaged in developing and producing equipment to serve the needs of all three wings of the Defence forces. Mahindra Aerospace is the aerospace arm of the Group. Through companies located in India and abroad, Mahindra manufactures utility aircraft and aerostructures.

At the forefront of our drive in innovation and technology is Ulhas, who leads one of our largest business sectors, Information Technology, and works with our Presidents, CEOs and R&D heads across the Group to ensure that all our companies are in sync and up-to-speed with the latest developments in technology. Appointed in 2010 as Group CTO, he leads our charge in identifying the next big disruption in digital technologies and our investments in technology.

Ulhas serves as a Director on the boards of the Group’s technology-driven companies, and is the man behind the Mahindra Strategic Innovation and Research Fund that handles the Group’s corporate venture capital activity. Credited for turning around the fortunes of Mahindra Satyam, Ulhas continues to multiply the global reach and impact of our IT offerings.

A rewarding aspect of Ulhas’ role at Mahindra is leading our tie-ups and knowledge-sharing initiatives with global centers of learning - Harvard, MIT and more. He is also on the Board of Governors of UWC Mahindra in India, and is a trustee of the KC Mahindra Education Trust and the Mahindra Foundation.

A Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Chennai, Ulhas earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, to which he gives back as a member of the Managing Committee of the Harvard Business School (India) Research Centre.

When not dealing in bits and bytes, Ulhas listens to music, reads, and explores the latest tech gadgets. He lives in Mumbai with his wife. They have one son.

Leading the Group’s contributions to greener homes and sustainable urbanization is Anita, who serves as CEO of the Real Estate Sector and as MD of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (MLDL). Her innovative leadership has seen the Group make bold strides in our commitment to a better urban lifestyle.

Anita joined Mahindra in 2002 as the Vice President of Marketing for Mahindra World City, was appointed the COO of MLDL in 2006, and took on her present roles in 2009. She is a member of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Real Estate Council, Asia Society, and the Developer’s Committee of the Export Promotion Council for Export-Oriented Units and Special Economic Zones (EPCES).

Apart from the recognition she receives for her work in creating sustainable living, she has received the Women in Leadership Award from the WILL Forum India in 2009, for driving gender equality in the workplace. In 2012, she received the Woman Achiever of the Year award at Construction Week India. The following year, NDTV Property Awards recognized her work with the Outstanding Woman CEO award.

Anita earned her MBA from the Bharatidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli. She currently lives in Mumbai, and is passionate about wildlife and nature-related travel.

Zhooben joined us in 1985, and through a remarkable 30 year career has acquired a wide spectrum of experience across diverse roles in a number of key positions in several business sectors. Befitting his broad experience, he currently handles a dual role, oversight of the group legal function and manages Mahindra Partners - a diversified division that oversees new businesses and all new investments of the Group. He is also an active participant in other corporate initiatives. The expanding Mahindra Partners portfolio currently includes Steel Trading and Processing, Logistics, Retail, Powered Speedboats, Solar Energy, Conveyor Systems, Media, Engineering Consultancy Services and a Water Distribution business.

Immediately prior to this role, Zhooben served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. He received his Commerce degree from HR College, Mumbai, and is a certified Chartered Accountant.

Johng-sik Choi majored in business management at Seoul National University and earned his Master’s degree from the Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University.

He started his career at Hyundai Motors in 1977, serving as Head of Planning Office, Head of Marketing, Vice President & Director of Hyundai Motor Canada, and Executive Director of Hyundai Motor America.

He joined Ssangyong Motor in January 2010 as Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing, and successfully launched a series of face-lifted models and new products such as the Korando and Tivoli which reflected the customer needs and market trend.

He plays a key role in helping the company regain market share. In 2013, Ssangyong recorded its highest-ever yearly revenue and exports volumes. 

Referred to as a global sales master and automotive expert with 40 years of experience in the automotive industry, he is credited with driving growth and presenting a future vision for Ssangyong as a prestigious global automaker.

After a number of key roles, including Treasurer and Senior Vice President (Mergers & Acquisitions) - he accepted a role as CFO at Mahindra Satyam in 2009. In this capacity, he provided critical leadership in setting up systems and processes in Finance, Accounts, Treasury, and Commercial Operations, thereby setting the stage for the successful turnaround of the company.

In charge of cascading the brand story within and outside the Group, Ruzbeh plays a critical role in Mahindra’s aspiration to become one of the world’s most admired brands by 2021. His related responsibility is to ensure that Mahindra maintains only the highest ethical standards across the Group and in all its offerings.

Ruzbeh strives to align businesses with the Group’s brand strategy, driving internal change, and coordinating our global brand-building efforts. As Chief Brand Officer in 2009, he was responsible for Mahindra becoming the first Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to compete in the World Moto3TM Championships. He was appointed to the Group Executive Board in 2010, and was appointed head of International Operations in 2012; with the latter, he unlocked new markets for the Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors.

After earning his Bachelors degree in Commerce from Bombay University, Ruzbeh went on to receive his Masters in Management Studies from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Prior to Mahindra, Ruzbeh spent close to 22 years at Hindustan Lever and Unilever across countries and markets.

Ruzbeh is an avid jogger, swimmer, and sports enthusiast. He enjoys watching football. Ruzbeh lives in Mumbai with his wife, Madhavi. They have two sons.

Ramesh’s key mandate at Mahindra is to drive inclusive growth, aligned to our guiding belief of delivering rural prosperity. He has been hard at work, building Mahindra Finance since 1995, and the experience comes in handy when managing a team of over 16,000 employees, spread across 1,000+ branches across the country. Ramesh’s efforts have led to not only the creation of a potentially global financial services powerhouse, but also supported the rapid expansion of our mobility and tractor businesses.

Ramesh is a key player in the country’s financial sector affecting policy change as a member of the Banking & Finance Committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC), and the Taskforce of NBFCs of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He also serves as Co-Chairman of the Group on Finance & Leasing and Insurance of the Council of Economic Affairs, and helped set up the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). He also serves on the boards of several Mahindra Group companies.

Among the many accolades Ramesh has received include the Udyog Rattan Award from the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi; the Rashtriya Udyog Pratibha Award from the Council for Economic Growth & Research, Pune; and the Bhartiya Udyog Ratna Award from the National Education & Human Resources Development Organization, Mumbai. In 2010, Business World included him in a special report on India’s Most Valuable CEOs, in 2014, received an award as one of the finalists for “The Outstanding CEO Category” by CEO India Magazine, Delhi, and in the same year was adjudged the Best CEO - Financial Services Sector Mid Cap by Business Today at an Awards function held in Delhi. He was also shortlisted in the Top 5 Overall Best CEO (mid-cap category all Industry), 2015 ;he received 2 awards in the category 'CEO of the Year' & 'Most Admired Rural Entrepreneur of the Year Award' at The Rural Marketing Forum and Awards, conducted by CMO Asia in 2015.

A commerce graduate, Ramesh has an MBA from Mumbai University. He an alumnus of several management and leadership programs conducted in India, the US, France, and China by institutions like IIM (Bangalore), Michigan Business School, Harvard Business School and IMD, Switzerland.

Rajesh Jejurikar, President & Chief Executive - Farm Equipment & Two Wheelers, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., heads our tractor and the two wheeler businesses.

The tractor business, with its two brands - Mahindra & Swaraj, is the leading player in the Indian tractor market. Mahindra Two Wheelers is a global motorcycles and scooters company that also owns 51% stake in France based Peugeot Motocycles, the oldest motorized two-wheeler manufacturer in the world.

Rajesh joined the Automotive Sector as Vice President - Marketing in 2000. Over the years, he moved from being an Executive Vice President - Sales & Marketing to Managing Director, Mahindra Renault and Chief of Operations of the Automotive Division. In 2010, Rajesh was appointed Chief Executive for the Automotive Division and Member of the Group Executive Board.

He serves on the Boards of several companies including Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd., Mahindra Gujarat Tractor Ltd., Mahindra First Choice Wheels Ltd., Mahindra USA, Peugeot Motocycles (France), Mahindra Racing SRL (Italy) and Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery Co. Ltd.(Japan).

A 1986 batch MBA from S.P. Jain Institute of Management, Rajesh has attended the Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and was awarded the British Chevening Scholarship to study at the Manchester Business School, UK.

Rajesh is the current President of the Tractor Manufacturers Association (TMA). He is a visiting faculty at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and is on their Governing Body. He also has an honorary position on the Enactus India National Advisory Board.

Group CFO, Group CIO, President - Group Finance and M&A

VS Parthasarathy, or Partha, as he is fondly known, has occupied a number of key positions at Mahindra, including his current role as Chief Financial Officer and Group CIO.

He joined Mahindra in 2000 as Head of Performance Management and IT, and subsequently contributed to Business Planning, International Operations, Policy Deployment, Strategy, and Mergers & Acquisitions for the Farm Equipment Sector.

As Group CIO, Partha successfully executed Project Harmony, an ambitious initiative to implement common processes on a single IT platform. Similarly, as Executive Vice President of Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions, Partha set up systems and processes that led to immense inorganic growth across the Group. Under his leadership, the M&A team executed more than 25 acquisitions and transactions globally.

Partha is passionate about management, and contributes regularly to training and development initiatives as a faculty member at local and regional programmes.

Partha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Gujarat University, and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is a voracious reader and has an avid interest in both fiction and business management books. He lives in Mumbai with his wife, Jayashree, and two sons.

A Mahindra veteran, Pravin heads the domestic and international operations of the Automotive sector.

As the Chief Executive of Mahindra’s Automotive business, Pravin’s mandate is to maintain our leadership status in the Indian UV segment and globalize our automobile business at a rapid rate. Among his many milestones in his 33 years at Mahindra is his close involvement in its evolution as a modern Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) manufacturer. In the past, he has been the Chairman of the International Trade Committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and has also been the recipient of many awards for his success in export promotion.

Pravin received his Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours from Gujarat University. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, ranking 11th in the exams conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

In his free time, he likes to travel and meet people from different cultures and continents, and is an avid fan of cricket. Pravin lives in Mumbai with his wife, Shobhana, and their two sons.

Ashok has a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from VJTI Mumbai followed by a Masters in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management. Before joining Mahindra in 1998, he was with Godrej & Boyce, Videocon International, and Daewoo Electronics, predominantly in the areas of Sales and Marketing. He joined the Farm Equipment Sector in 1998 as General Manager (Sales) and since then has made significant contributions in the areas of Quality, Strategic Planning and Business Excellence.

More recently, he has played a key role in expanding and growing Mahindra's Powerol and Agri businesses. Under his leadership, Mahindra's Agri Business has grown to become one of India's largest grape exporter and launched several new products and brands including India's first premium fresh fruit brand Saboro, Saboro Dairy, NuPro Mustard Oil and NuPro Pulses.

Ashok was instrumental in developing an integrated strategy for the Automotive and Farm Equipment sectors in Africa and is leading the creation of a strong on ground presence in the South Asian countries.

He is an advisor to the Union of Japanese Scientists & Engineers (JUSE), Chairman of the CII TPM Club of India, and also serves as a Member, CII Africa Committee and CII Western Regional Council.

In his spare time, Ashok enjoys reading and meditating. He lives in Mumbai with his wife. They have one son.

Kavinder Singh joined Mahindra in 2014 as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited (MHRIL). His focus is to make Mahindra Holidays the world's leading vacation ownership company.

Kavinder has over 28 years of extensive experience in the FMCG sector having worked in Asian Paints, ITC Ltd. and Pidilite Industries. In his 17 year career at ITC, he spent the last 8 years in setting up and building the ‘Sunfeast’ biscuits business and was heading the Biscuits and Confectionery business prior to joining Pidilite. He started the ‘Strategic Initiatives Group’ and led transformational Corporate Strategic Initiatives at Pidilite. After a successful stint as Chief Strategy Officer, he became the first CEO of the Consumer Products Business at Pidilite, his most recent role. Kavinder is a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal and has attended the General Management Program at Wharton School of Business.

Kavinder is married to Jeet who is an artist. They have a daughter, Gunjeet, who is studying medicine and a son, Ravneet, who is studying engineering. Kavinder is a voracious reader, a fitness enthusiast and loves to travel and explore new destinations.

President & Chief Executive - Truck & Powertrain, Head - Mahindra Research Valley

Rajan is responsible for setting up our technological centers of excellence, and rapidly scaling up our automobile capabilities in his capacity as Chief Executive of Mahindra Trucks & Buses Limited and the Power Train Division, and head of the Advanced Technology & Common Services at Mahindra Research Valley. Allied to his role, he also serves on the boards of Mahindra Reva, Mahindra Intertrade, Mahindra Europe and several other Mahindra Group companies.

With over 28 years of experience in the Automotive and Farm Equipment sectors, Rajan brings expertise and experience to his role. Our major automobile product brands, including the XUV 500, Xylo, Scorpio Refresh, Gio, Maxximo and Thar, have all benefited from Rajan’s leadership as the Chief of Engineering and Product Development of the Automotive Sector.

Rajan earned his Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology degrees from IIT Mumbai, and participated in the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton Business School. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Before joining Mahindra, Rajan was Head of Operations of the Eicher Group’s trucks, tractors, and motorcycles businesses.

Rajan enjoys long distance drives, swimming, and taking vacations with his family. He lives in Mumbai with his wife and two sons.
